Lost’s Carlton Cuse and screenwriter Ryan Condal are working to adapt Oni Press’ graphic novel series The 6th Gun for NBC. The plot is about the six mythical guns in the Old West which is being produced by Universal TV and Oni’s production company Closed on Mondays Entertainment. Condal will write the script as well as executive produce along with Cuse and Closed on Monday’s co-founder Eric Gitter and Andy Bourne.
30 Rock’s co-EP Ron Weiner sold two comedies to NBC. One is an untitled workplace comedy about a contentious work marriage where two people are polar opposite but have to manage a team together. Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope are EPs with 20th Century Fox producing. The second project is an adaptation on a British comedy called Whites produced by Universal Television about a celebrity chef who doesn’t realize his star has faded. 3 Arts’ Howard Klein will be the EP.
The CW is taking Confessions of a Backup Dancer back into development, per THR. The network handed the project script orders for the drama based on Tucker Shaw’s book of the same name. The plot is about a young filmmaker who is hired to make a documentary about a famous pop star and her controversial tour. Things become mired when the filmmaker falls in love with a backup dancer. Andrew Leeds and David Lampson are writing the script and executive producing for Allow and Warner Bros. Television.
USA Network’s upcoming half-hour comedy pilot Sirens from executive producer Denis Leary has cast Michael Mosley (30 Rock), Kevin Daniels (Modern Family), Jessica McNamee (The Vow) and Kevin Bigley (Game Change) to star. Leary will co-write with fellow EP Bob Fisher; Jim Serpico will also serve as EP along with Hal Vogel and David Aukin of Daybreak Pictures. Apostle and Fox Television Studios will produce the project in conjunction with Daybreak Pictures. Production on the pilot will begin later this month in Chicago with Victor Nelli as director who will also be an EP.
Valerie Cruz has landed a role in Lifetime’s drama pilot, The Secret Lives of Wives. The project is inspired by Iris Krasnow’s book of the same name about the unvarnished truth behind the marriages of four different women.
Casting Call: Robert Mazza Casting, LLC and a major cable TV network are casting for a new docu-series and are seeking single women, 21 and over who are obsessed with finding Mr. Right. If you prioritize finding the right man and have a systematic approach to searching for Mr. Right or have a lengthy checklist or a dating flow chart, the producers would like to hear from you. Casting ends soon.
