Midseason drama The Carrie Diaries will premiere on The CW January 14 at 8p. Set in the 1980s, The Carrie Diaries is the prequel series to Sex and the City and follows young Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) in high school. With the premiere of The Carrie Diaries in the 8p Monday slot, The CW plans on shifting 90210 back an hour to 9p taking over Gossip Girl’s former spot.
New one-hour series, Fatal Vows chronicles twisted tales of love that turns deadly when the series premieres on Investigation Discovery next week on November 17 at 10p. Each episode will have Dr. Brian Russell, an attorney and forensic/clinical psychologist and Stacy Kaiser, a licensed psychotherapist and relationship expert guide viewers through cases involving murder between spouses. Fatal Vows is produced for Investigation Discovery by CMJ Productions.
USA Network’s original drama Burn Notice was handed a seventh season order consisting of 13 episodes. Next year, Burn Notice will become the third series in the network’s history to reach 100 episodes. This news follows USA’s recent third season order for original series Suits. Burn Notice is produced by Fox Television Studios and Fuse Entertainment.
SHOWTIME will end The Big C, starring Laura Linney with a four-part limited event series created to bring finality to the storyline. The Big C: hereafter will have Linney reprising her role as Cathy Jamison, whose cancer diagnosis forces her to shake up her life. Joining her in the cast is Oliver Platt, John Benjamin Hickey, Gabriel Basso and Gabourey Sidibe. For the final episodes, Kathy Najimy and fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi will guest star. Najimy will appear in all four eps as Cathy’s (Linney) no-nonsense therapist who helps her deal with the challenges she faces while Mizrahi will appear in several eps as himself. The Big C: hereafter is produced by Sony Pictures Television. SHOWTIME also set the premiere date of Jim Rome on SHOWTIME for November 21 at 10p. The new, one-hour series will highlight Rome’s trademark style and opinions about the world of sports. The series is produced by Generate Entertainment, Inc.
In anticipation of the third season premiere of Portlandia starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, its network, IFC has launched Portlandia Co-Op via IFC.com. Fans of the show can sign up at www.ifc.com/co-op to join Portlandia Co-Op and members can use the Portlandia Twitter handle, post art or images inspired by the show on Instagram using #portlandia or even create handmade Portlandia coffee sleeves. The campaign also involves a partnership with Etsy, where many of the show’s fans already sell their Portlandia inspired items. IFC and Etsy will support each other online and through social media. In addition, IFC will air an all-new pre-season bonus episode titled Winter in Portlandia on December 14 at 1030p which will also be available on IFC.com, Portlandia’s Facebook page and iTunes starting the next day. Season three of Portlandia debuts on IFC January 4 at 10p with two all-new back-to-back episodes.
Outdoor Channel’s new competition reality series, Elite Tactical Unit: S.W.A.T. secured Streamlight Inc., a manufacturer of high-performance flashlights and weapon light/laser sighting devices as sponsor of the Blue Team. The one-hour show has two teams, the Blue Team and the Black Team made up of seven S.W.A.T. officers each who compete in weekly elimination challenges involving mental and physical skills. The Black Team is sponsored by Nosler. Outdoor Channel will debut the series January 9 at 8p, produced by Winnercomm, a division of Outdoor Channel Holdings,

It’s being reported the AMC series The Killing may be resurrected following its cancelation in July by the network. AMC is having discussions with Netflix to bring The Killing back for another season which would be its third. If a deal happens, AMC would get the first window to air season three. Series stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman are under contract for a third season. Fox TV Studios is behind the series.
Cinesite, a digital visual effects facility has completed its first foray into television production by co-producing and selling its first series, Rod and Rucksack to Discovery Networks across the EMEA. Rod and Rucksack is a one-hour travel/adventure series with five episodes hosted by Guy Elson.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis: NBC got the viewers’ vote Tuesday night posting a 4.3/10 among A18-49, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. NBC monopolized the viewer’s attention during live coverage of election results with the network delivering a 3.4/9 at 8p followed by ABC’s Vote 2012 at 2.9/7 and CBS’ Campaign 2012 at 2.2/6. At 9p, NBC remained in charge with its Decision 2012 coverage at 4.6/11 and ABC’s Vote 2012 held steady in second place at 3.5/8 while CBS’ Campaign 2012 was #3 at 2.5/6. NBC ended the primetime hours at 10p with an uptick for its Decision 2012 coverage at 4.9/11 and ABC’s Vote 2012 was #2 at 3.9/9 and CBS placed third again this hour with Campaign 2012 at 2.6/6.

NBC’s The Voice was tops at 8p with a 3.5/10 with CBS’ Survivor: Philippines next at 2.8/8 and FOX’s The X Factor was third at 2.6/7. During 9p, the second half of The Voice on NBC won at 4.0/10 with ABC’s comedies Modern Family and Suburgatory in second with an average of 3.9/10 and CBS’ Criminal Minds next at 3.0/8. CBS Corporation appointed Scott Koondel as SVP/Chief Corporate Content Licensing Officer, reporting to Joseph Ianniello, EVP/CFO, CBS Corporation. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. advanced Lisa Hyams to SVP/Network Partnerships for US Network Operations. The division provides 24/7 technical and operational support including engineering, broadcast operations, traffic, media and multiplatform operations for Turner’s networks TNT, TBS, truTV, TCM, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang and also distributes NBA-TV. Based in Atlanta, Lisa reports to Veronica Sheehan, SVP/Global Network Operations and International Information Technology for TBS, Inc. Furthermore, Michael Luzzi was promoted to SVP/Technology and Operations for US Network Operations. Michael is based in Atlanta and also reports to Veronica Sheehan.
Effective immediately, Investigation Discovery (ID) promoted Kevin Bennett to GM and Kevin also retains his responsibilities as SVP/Programming and Research for ID, Destination America and Military Channel. Kevin will report to Henry Schleiff, President/GM of Investigation Discovery, Destination America and Military Channel. Furthermore, Jane Latman was elevated to SVP/Development, Investigation Discovery and she will report to Kevin Bennett.
Matthew Corbin, formerly with Google, joins The Weather Company as GM of its hyper-local platform. Matthew will be in charge of all aspects of the platform, including planning, execution, business development, sales and product management. He reports to Jennifer Dangar, President/Distribution and Business Development.
Sports network NESN hired Leah Hextall as an Anchor/Reporter. Leah joins the network’s on-air team comprised of Adam Pellerin and Jaime Erdahl. Most recently, Leah worked for Canada’s CTV broadcast network as a sports anchor/reporter since 2005.
