~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

It was revealed Wednesday CBS will not produce a syndicated talk show hosted by Katie Couric, who recently announced her departure as anchor of CBS’ Evening News.  In April, both NBC and Warner Bros. declined to produce the potential talk show as well, leaving now only ABC as a possible producer for the syndicated daytime show, though nothing is official.

Bounce TV made its first distribution deal with Raycom Media. The terms of the multi-year agreement has Raycom making Bounce TV, the over-the-air broadcast television network designed for African American audiences available in 26 Raycom markets as the network rolls out this fall.  The Raycom stations will carry Bounce TV on their digital spectrum, reaching more than 10% of the US TV households and almost 19% of African American TV homes.  The Raycom stations carrying Bounce TV include WOIO-WUAB/Cleveland-Akron; WBTV/Charlotte; WXIX/Cincinnati; WFLX/West Palm Beach; WBRC/Birmingham; WMC/Memphis; WAVE/Louisville; WUPV/Richmond; WIS/Columbia; WAFF/Huntsville; KSLA/Shreveport; WLBT/Jackson; WAFB/Baton Rouge; WTOC/Savannah; WCSC/Charleston; WMBF/Myrtle Beach-Florence; KLTV/Tyler-Lufkin; WFXG/Augusta; WSFA/Montgomery; WTVM/Columbus; WECT/Wilmington; WALB/Albany; WLOX/Biloxi; WDAM/Hattiesburg; WDFX/Dothan; and KPLC/Lake Charles.

WFN: World Fishing Network boosted its distribution on DISH Network as the channel was added to DISH’s Outdoor Sports Pack.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

FOX’s upcoming singing competition series The X Factor officially tapped British pop star Cheryl Cole as one of the judges, joining Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Simon Cowell.  Cole has served as judge on the UK edition of The X Factor for three years.  Cole, Reid, Cowell and a fourth judge to be announced will travel to audition cities searching for the next worldwide superstar or music group.  Auditions continue in Dallas on May 26. The X Factor is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America.

Neil Patrick Harris once again will host the 65th Annual Tony Awards this year which airs live on CBS June 12.

Two more actors landed roles on FX’s drama pilot American Horror Story from Ryan Murphy and produced by 20th Century Fox.  Evan Peters will play Tate Langdon, a handsome and charismatic teen who is described as a cult leader and Taissa Farmiga joins as Violet Harmon, the teen gothic daughter of Ben and Vivien Harmon (Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton).  America Horror Story focuses on the Harmon’s after they move from Boston to San Francisco and live in a haunted home where they try to rebuild their family after a miscarriage and an affair.  Jessica Lange also stars as Constance the Harmon’s new neighbor whose Down syndrome daughter knows much about the mysterious house and Denis O’Hare co-stars as Larry the Burn Guy, a former resident of the spooky house.

ITV Studios America made an overall Executive Producer deal with Spencer Stander and his production and post-production company Stander Productions, INC in Los Angeles.  The deal reflects ITV America’s continued growth strategy goals.
