A&E has staged its last Intervention. After 13 seasons – and 243 interventions – the network has canceled the groundbreaking docuseries. The show will come to an end following its final five-episode season, which begins airing Thursday, June 13 at 9p. During its run, Intervention garnered two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Reality Series, winning the award in 2009.

~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

The wait is almost over for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West fans, who have been on the edge of their seats wondering if they’re expecting a boy or a girl. The child’s gender will be revealed on the season premiere of Keeping Up with the Kardashians on Sunday June 2 at 9p on E!

American Idol finalist Matt Rogers will host USA network’s new competition reality series Summer Camp. The show sends die-hard campers back to the most cherished place of their youth for the thrill of a lifetime. Produced by Allison Grodner, Rich Meehan and Fly on the Wall Entertainment and distributed by Sony Pictures Television, the series debuts Thursday, July 11 at 8p. 

The CW docuseries Breaking Pointe, which pulls viewers into the inner workings of Salt Lake City ballet company Ballet West, will return for its sophomore season one week earlier than previously announced. The new premiere date is Monday, July 22 at 9p.

Jenna Elfman is returning as host of the 2013 Crystal & Lucy Awards, set for June 12 at the Beverly Hilton. Laura Linney, the female stars of Mad Men, George Lucas, Sofia Coppola, Hailee Steinfeld and cinematographer Rachel Morrison will be honored at the dinner.

Spike TV‘s Guys Choice Awards will feature an all-star roster of male presenters and attendees. Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Vin Diesel, The Dude himself, Jeff Bridges, Jason Sudeikis, Andrew Luck, Questlove, Jackie Chan, Chrissy Teigen, Katherine Webb, Comedy Central’s Anders Holm, Blake Anderson, Adam DeVine, and Jon Taffer have been added to this year’s line-up. Fans will also be treated to a special performance by the Grammy Award nominated The Lonely Island. The award ceremony airs Wednesday, June 12 at 9p.

FX has locked the premiere date for its newest original drama series The Bridge, a present-day crime thriller exploring the tensions on the US-Mexico border. The show will debut Wednesday, July 10 at 10p.

The White Queen, adapted from Philippa Gregory’s best-selling historical novel series The Cousins’ War, will premiere on Starz on Saturday, August 10 at 9p. The series is told from the perspective of the three women who laid claim to the English throne: Elizabeth Woodville (The White Queen), Margaret Beaufort (The Red Queen) and Anne Neville (The Kingmaker’s Daughter). The ten-part limited series is a BBC co-production with Company Pictures.

Discovery Communications and digital video provider Revision3 have announced the launch of digital video network TestTube. The new network will launch with 15 short-form series and be available at TestTube.com and via Revision3’s mobile site and apps, YouTube, Xbox, among other distribution partners.

~ PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT NEWS ~

                        
Put on your thinking cap. ABC Family has greenlit Spell-Mageddon, an hour game show where contestants take on hilarious distractions, while spelling increasingly challenging words. The show is created and executive-produced by Adam Reed, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif of Thinkfactory Media.  It will join ABC Family’s Wednesday night comedy line-up on Wednesday July 24 at 9p.

Another housewife, another spinoff. Tamra Barney, star of The Real Housewives of Orange County, is getting her own show. Barney is filming a new series for Bravo that will follow her and fiance Eddie Judge as they prepare for their nuptials. The show has yet to be titled.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE AND CLEARANCE ~

CMT has reached a multi-year licensing deal with distributor Debmar-Mercury to become the exclusive cable partner for off-network episodes of Hell’s Kitchen, produced by ITV Studios America. The series will debut weekdays beginning Monday, May 27 at 12p and will also be available on CMT VOD.

Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment and National Geographic Home Entertainment  have announced a multi-year extension of their existing home video distribution agreement. Under the pact’s terms GVE will release HD programming from the National Geographic Channel throughout the United States and Canada. This includes the series Doomsday Preppers, Wicked Tuna, Brain Games and Inside and features on acclaimed dog rehabilitation specialist Cesar Milan, plus a catalog of previously released titles.

~ CASTING NEWS ~

DirecTV has added to the star-studded cast of its upcoming Neil LaBute drama Full Circle. David Boreanaz, Kate Walsh and Minka Kelly have been added to the mix. The 10-episode series centers on 11 people whose lives are intertwined. Also signed for the show are Tom Felton, Billy Campbell, Julian McMahon, Akeelah, Keke Palmer, Devon Gearhart, Noah Silver, Ally Sheedy, Cheyenne Jackson and Robin Weigert.

~ INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS ~

Leading international TV provider Chello Zone has acquired the US reality series Hardcore Pawn for its CBS Reality network in Poland and one of its EMEA feeds. CBS Reality will air all nine series of the hit US show across Poland, Cyprus, Hungary, Romania, the Middle East and Africa. The first episode will premiere in Poland in June 2013. Hardcore Pawn is produced by Zodiak USA for Tru TV and is distributed internationally by Zodiak Rights.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis:  ABC came out on top Wednesday night delivering a 2.3/7 among A18-49, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, FOX’s Master Chef  ranked #1 at 2.1/7, while ABC’s The Middle and Family Tools combined at 1.8/ 6 for second. ABC’s Modern Family took over the lead from 9 to 9:30p at 3.7/11. CBS’ Criminal Minds took the top spot at 9:30p at 2.8/8, followed by FOX’s Master Chef at 2.2/6. At 10p, CBS’ Criminal Minds was #1 at 3.0/9. ABC’s Nashville followed at 1.9/5.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

John Knoll has been named Chief Creative Officer of Industrial Light & Magic. He had served as ILM’s visual effects supervisor since 1991.

Misty Locke has been promoted to President of iProspect Americas, Aegis Dentsu‘s global digital performance marketing specialist. She will be charged with growing the iProspect network and brand throughout the Americas and instilling its unified global vision. Locke will also retain her role as Global Chief Marketing and Performance Officer, a post she has held for two years.

Leftfield Entertainment is expanding its executive team with key new hires and a promotion at Leftfield Pictures. Heath Banks, formerly senior vice president of production at Pilgrim Studios, has been name Executive Vice President, Production, overseeing production and day-to-day operations of Leftfield’s production slate. Chris Silvestri, formerly senior vice president, business and legal affairs, at Fox News Network, has been hired as General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs. Gretchen Palek, formerly of Discovery, has been appointed Head of Talent Management. Kevin Duncan, formerly vice president, development at  Zodiak New York, has been named Senior Director, Development. In addition, Will Nothacker has been promoted to Vice President, Development, from  director, development.

Charles W. Wolfertz III has been promoted to President and General Manager of Hearst Television‘s WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA, effective June 1. Wolfertz previously served as General Sales Manager. He succeeds Michael J. Hayes, who has been named Senior Vice President and Group Head of Hearst Television Inc.

Ed Crick, former MD of Zodiak Media-owned Bullseye Productions, has been named Joint Creative Director of Tern TV. Crick will work alongside Creative Director Harry Bell and take a seat on the board. Based out of Scotland and Northern Ireland, Tern will make a concerted push into the United States where Crick, who has been a creative voice in the US market for a decade, has contacts with all non scripted networks and deals in place with two partner producers.
