~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Before its Upfront presentation next week, FOX handed out several cancelations to first season series Alcatraz and the Bones spinoff series The Finder, also in its first season.  Alcatraz is from J.J. Abrams and stars Sarah Jones and Jorge Garcia and The Finder is from Hart Hanson and stars Geoff Stults.  FOX further has canceled Breaking In from Sony Pictures Television for the second time and officially has canceled the sitcom I Hate My Teenage Daughter starring Jamie Pressly and Katie Finneran.  On its renewal list, FOX is continuing with Touch, starring Kiefer Sutherland, American Dad, Bones, The Cleveland Show, Fringe, Glee, Kitchen Nightmares, New Girl, Raising Hope and The Simpsons.

NBC ordered two new dramas prior to its Upfront event.  Both dramas are produced by Universal Television and they include Infamous (formerly titled Notorious during development season), a soap about a female detective who goes undercover with the wealthy family she grew up in as the maid’s daughter to solve the murder of the heiress who was once her close friend.  BermanBraun produces Infamous with Universal Television.  From Peter Traugott Productions and Universal is the drama Do No Harm, a modern-day take on the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde story about a renowned neurosurgeon that has a destructive alter ego.  NBC additionally has picked up Parenthood for another season and 30 Rock is returning for its final 13-episode season.

The Courteney Cox-starring sitcom Cougar Town is switching from ABC to TBS where the cable network has ordered a fourth season with new episodes set to premiere in early 2013.  TBS also has secured the encore rights to Cougar Town’s first three seasons comprising of 61 episodes that have aired on ABC.  Cougar Town is produced by ABC Studios.

DirecTV has ordered its first-ever original scripted series, Rogue starring Thandie Newton with 10 episodes.  Rogue is described as a suspense/drama about a “morally and emotionally conflicted cop, Grace (Newton) who is tormented by the possibility that her own actions contributed to her son’s death.”  Matthew Parkhill created the series and Nick Hamm, Steven Marrs, John Morayniss and Michael Rosenberg are serving as executive producers.  Rogue is slated to debut in summer 2013.

Over-the-air broadcast television network, Bounce TV targeting African Americans will launch its second new original comedy series, Uptown Comic on June 18 directly after the series premiere of the network’s previously-announced sitcom Family Time.  Uptown Comic is a half-hour series highlighting stage and skit performances by up-and-coming comics from around the country.  Production is currently underway on Uptown Comic which is being filmed in front of a live studio audience at the African American comedy club, Uptown Comedy Corner in Atlanta.  Actor/comedian Joe Torry is hosting the series.  On June 18, Family Time, the new half-hour situation comedy will debut first at 8p followed by the series launch of Uptown Comic at 830p.  Rainforest Films is producing Uptown Comic, the same producers behind the current theatrical film Think Like a Man.

The new series Narrow Escapes of WWII, debuting next Tuesday on Military Channel at 10p, relates true acts of courage by generals and troops that ended up saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.  Through personal stories and recreations, the 13-episode series relates the raids and battles where these acts of courage and bravery took place. Narrow Escapes of WWII is produced by IMG Media for Military Channel.
