~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Stretching out the season, NBC added an extra live results show for The Voice on June 22 and slated June 29 as the show’s live season finale.  So far this frosh season through May 31, The Voice is averaging a 5.5 rating with A18-49 and 12.6 million viewers, per Nielsen.  The most recent episode hit a high note at 14.4 million total viewers.  NBC further said The Voice is returning in midseason on Monday nights from 8-10p as a lead-in to the new musical series Smash.  The Voice was also selected to air in the coveted slot following NBC’s live Super Bowl telecast next February.

In other NBC news, the network is resuscitating reality series Fear Factor which ran on the network for five years starting in 2001.  Paul Telegdy, head of alternative programming for NBC, saw sister network, Chiller pull in solid ratings with Fear Factor reruns which prompted NBC to consider reviving the show and discussing a comeback with the show’s production company Endemol USA.  It has not been announced who will host the re-issued show or when it will premiere.

Upfront Update: As of yesterday, FOX said it has completed its upfront advertising deals, making it the first broadcast network to do so.  It is being reported FOX may have taken in nearly $2 billion in ad sales and selling nearly 80% of its ad inventory.  The exact ad rate increase is not known, though it is speculated FOX’s prices were on average up by +10% over last year.  FOX also apparently gained around 10-11% in total upfront ad sales compared to the previous year which totaled $1.8-$1.9 billion.

Jane Lynch, playing Glee’s favorite meanie on FOX, the role that won her an Emmy Award in 2010, will take on a new gig as host of the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, airing live on FOX September 18.  The event will be broadcast from the NOKIA Theatre in Los Angeles.  Nominations for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced at 540a PT on July 14.

Summer brings a new schedule for Univision with the premiere of new action series El Equipo June 16 at 10p plus the launch of new family show Pequenos Gigantes on Sundays starting June 19 at 8p.  Univision’s complete new summer primetime schedule begins next Monday:

Pequenos Gigantes Auditions Pre-show airs June 15 at 10p
Pequenos Gigantes premieres June 19 at 8p and airs on Sundays

On June 30, FOX News Channel will end The Glenn Beck Program.  Both the network and host Glenn Beck announced his pending exit in April.  During the month of May, The Glenn Beck Program saw its ratings plummet by 17% in total viewers. Fox News has not yet announced Beck’s replacement in the 5p weekday slot.

Music competition show, CMT’s Next Superstar produced by American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and airing on CMT, received an early second season renewal from the network.  Lythgoe’s son Simon is also an executive producer for the show.  CMT also revealed actress and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth will perform during the first season finale on June 10. The second season of CMT’s Next Superstar will either debut later this year or in early 2012.

For its seventh and final season, the premiere date for FX’s Rescue Me has switched to July 13 at 10p.  The series will air on Wednesday nights.

New series Franklin & Bash debuted at 9p Wednesday on TNT with 2.7 million total viewers as well as 1.1 million among A18-49 and 1.2 million with A25-54.  Following at 10p, the season premiere of Men of a Certain Age at 10p tallied 1.8 million total viewers and averaged 591,000 with A18-49 and 825,000 with A25-54.

Debut of new reality series Haunted Collector has the distinction of being Syfy’s most-watched reality series premiere so far this year, filing 1.44 million total viewers on Wednesday at 9p.  The series premiere of Haunted Collector also racked up 799,000 among A25-54 and 730,000 with A18-49.  New episodes of Hollywood Treasure followed at 10p, bringing in 910,000 total viewers.
