President Obama’s speech to the nation Wednesday at 8p, offering an update on the war in Afghanistan and clocking in at approximately 15 minutes long, was viewed by an average audience of 25.4 million, according to Nielsen.  The address was carried live on nine networks including ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, TeleFutura, CNN, FOX Business News, FOX News Channel and MSNBC.

Twenty talented fashion designers square off as the ninth season of Project Runway launches on Lifetime July 28 at 9p.  Eventually sixteen designers will compete with one earning the chance to show off their creations at New York Fashion Week.  Host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia are returning for the new season along with a crop of guest designers and judges including Kim Kardashian, Christina Ricci, Zoe Saldana and Malin Akerman.  Project Runway is from The Weinstein Company, Bunim/Murray Productions and Full Picture. 

A pair of original Marvel anime series, Iron Man and Wolverine premiere this summer on G4.  The network airs both series exclusively with twelve 30m episodes that sport interconnecting storylines and appearances by other well-known Marvel characters.  Iron Man opens July 29 at 11p and Wolverine follows at 1130p, with both airing in a one-hour 11p-midnight block weekly on Fridays.  G4 will add to its exclusive Marvel anime lineup later this year when it premieres X-Men and Blade.  Iron Man and Wolverine are produced by Madhouse, Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan.  Sony Pictures Television is the distributor.

Retired US Special Forces Green Beret, Greg Stube stars in a new series for Sportsman Channel titled Coming Home with Greg Stube.  Launching June 29 at 7a, the series celebrates the American passion of hunting and fishing in Alaska to the Western States.  The weekly series runs on Wednesdays at 7a with encores at 1p on Thursdays and 11a on Sundays.

FUEL TV, part of Fox Sports Media Group offers a double sneak preview of new travel-themed series Strangers In Danger this Saturday at 5p and again on Sunday at 6p.  The 13-episode half-hour series from Mandt Bros. Productions features BMX pros and best buddies Zack “Catfish” Yankush and Mike “Rooftop” Escamilla as they visit thirteen different countries and participate in wild adventurous activities just like the locals.  Strangers In Danger will officially premiere on FUEL TV September 6 at 1030p airing on Tuesdays over 12 weeks. 

A retro-inspired online serial series, The Mercury Men makes its worldwide debut next month on  Created and written by director Christopher Preksta, The Mercury Men is set in Pittsburgh in 1975 about Edward Borman (Mark Tierno), a low-level government office worker who finds himself trapped when the deadly Men of Mercury take over the building and use it as a base for their nefarious plots.  The 10-part series contains seven-minute episodes starting July 25. New episodes will premiere each weekday over two weeks.  This series follows’s success with Riese: Kingdom Falling which has tallied more than two million streams to date. 


The 26th edition of MTV’s The Real World has begun production in San Diego with a premiere date set for later this year.  The Real World was created for MTV by Jon Murray and Mary-Ellis Bunim of Bunim/Murray Productions.

Aaron Sorkin chalks up another project in development with HBO, this time teaming with John Krasinski on an untitled miniseries based on the book, Life at the Marmont by Raymond R. Sarlot and Fred Basten.  Sorkin will write the script and be executive producer with Krasinski.  The Chateau Marmont’s present owner, Andre Balazs and his daughter, Alessandra will also serve as executive producers.  The project will focus on the famous guests of the former apartment complex in West Hollywood that became a hotel.  Krasinski will likely have a role in the miniseries.  Sorkin’s other project with HBO is the cable news series, More as This Story Develops starring Jeff Daniels, Olivia Munn and Sam Waterston. 

Former Showtime’s The Tudor’s star Natalie Dormer landed a regular series role on HBO’s Game of Thrones playing Margaery Tyrell, a beautiful and cunning member of the House Tyrell.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis:   In a talent-filled night, NBC won Wednesday at 3.4/10 among A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen.  NBC did best at 8p with The Voice Results Show at 3.3/10 with FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance at #2 with a 2.2/7.  The new installment of America’s Got Talent on NBC topped at 9p with a 3.9/11 followed once again by FOX and more of So You Think You Can Dance at 2.4/7.  Then at 10p, Univision rushed in to score with Copa Oro 2011 at 3.4/11 and NBC slid to second place with a repeat of America’s Got Talent at 2.9/8 and the debut of Primetime Nightline on ABC was third at 1.3/4.

Sundance Channel named Michael Lehrer in the newly-created position as VP/Strategic Marketing. Michael has oversight for the network’s brand and strategy positioning within the ad marketplace.  He is involved in the creation of campaigns, collateral and more to spur demand and sales.  Michael will further manage the development and execution of short-form and branded entertainment content related to revenue growth.  Previously, Michael was with MTV as Senior Director/Integrated Marketing and Sponsorship Development. 

Cheryl Magiros rejoins Screenvision as SVP/Direct Sales.  Cheryl heads the company’s local ad sales initiatives, reporting to Mark Mitchell, Chief Revenue Officer.

Bunim/Murray Productions, a Banijay Group company, extended its agreement with Jeff Jenkins serving as EVP/Entertainment and Programming.  Jeff is an integral part of the company’s executive team and is also Executive Producer of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Khloe & Lamar, Married to Rock and The Spin Crowd for E! Entertainment.  Jeff is Bunim/Murray’s primary creative executive for the E! franchise and supervises all facets of the shows from idea phase through post-production.
