A little more than a year after taking over the co-host position on NBC’s Today vacated by Meredith Vieira, apparently Ann Curry will be replaced though she is currently in negotiations to remain with the network in some capacity.  Speculation on Curry’s departure from the morning show was first reported in The New York Times.  This news is not official from NBC nor has a replacement for Curry on Today been named though reportedly Savannah Guthrie, who presently is Today’s news anchor and co-host of the 9a third hour of Today is being considered.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, threw out the FCC sanctions against ABC and FOX, the networks involved in fleeting profanity and nudity cases. The Supreme Court said the FCC did not provide fair notice to broadcasters that they were taking a firmer stance with their indecency enforcement policy.  The high court also did not offer more clarity if such cases violate the First Amendment’s free-speech protections.  This decision leaves the FCC’s indecency enforcement policy in limbo where they are currently dealing with more than a million indecency complaints that have been filed since the litigation started.

Launching next Monday, MSNBC’s new series for the 3p time slot is The Cycle.  The new program will feature a static cast of four including conservative commentator S.E. Cupp, author and pundit Toure, Salon writer Steve Kornacki and former Congressional candidate Krystal Ball.  All four have been previous contributors to MSNBC.  The Cycle replaces Dylan Ratigan’s show.

Since its launch more than eight years ago, TV One is introducing a new brand identity over the summer months.  The network will unveil a new logo, new tagline: Where Black Life Unfolds and a new on-air graphics and packaging designed to fit the network’s mission and programming.  TV One’s new branding campaign will launch on-air and coincide with the premiere of the new series R&B Divas on August 20 at 10p.  The series tells the current and true stories of five R&B stars: Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert, Monifah Carter, Syleena Johnson and Keke Wyatt.  TV One launched in January 2004 and presently reaches more than 57.3 million households with its variety of real-life and entertainment original programming, classic series, movies and music “designed to entertain, inform and inspire a diverse audience of adult African American viewers.”

Next month, SCIENCE debuts the second season of Dark Matters: Twisted But True on July 14 at 10p.  John Noble hosts this series that delves into top secret research records on shocking scientific studies using CGI recreations to illustrate the stories.  The six-episode series is produced by Wide-Eyed Entertainment for SCIENCE.

truTV ordered a second season of Impractical Jokers, the network’s hidden-camera series where four longtime friends take dares to an over-the-top level.  truTV approved 15 episodes for the new season which will launch in December 2012.  NorthSouth Productions produces the series.

A ninth season of the weekly financial series Consuelo Mack WealthTrack opens with a two-part special titled Impact Investing Opportunities debuting nationally on June 29 at 730p on public television stations (check local listings).
