NBC announced its schedule of premiere dates for the new Fall 2012 primetime lineup. The network kicks off its new season with commercial-free sneak previews of the new comedies Go On August 8 following the evening coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games and Animal Practice on August 12, airing after the Closing Ceremonies of the London Olympics. On August 13, NBC will debut its new competition series Stars Earn Stripes with a two-hour episode at 8p followed by an advance season premiere of Grimm at 10p. The remainder of NBC’s fall schedule includes:

For the upcoming presidential election, NBC News and Telemundo Media will partner to offer joint political coverage in English and Spanish under the political banner Decision 2012. The partnership means NBC News will give Telemundo Media access to its nationwide news organization while Telemundo will provide its expertise and reach within the Hispanic community. Both networks and their combined political news programming will offer campaign and convention coverage in addition to exclusive town halls and monthly polls. Furthermore, Alexandra Wallace, SVP at NBC News has expanded her role to include a strategic position within Telemundo where she will work closely with Alina Falcon, EVP/News and Alternative Programming at Telemundo Media on Decision 2012 and beyond.
Upfront Update: FOX has completed its upfront sales taking in around $1.9 billion to just under $2.0 billion for the 2012-13 season. FOX sold 80% of its inventory which is on par with last year, with CPM increases of +8-9%. NBC has also finalized its upfront deals totaling around $1.8 billion which is up a bit over last year. NBC sold approximately 79% of its ad inventory and reportedly got an ad rate increase of about +6%.
Season three of Bachelor Pad returns to ABC’s schedule this summer on July 23 with a two-hour premiere episode at 8p. The new season features fifteen male and female players from the network’s Bachelor franchise who gather together at the mansion to live together and attempt a second chance at love while competing for $250,000. Chris Harrison hosts Bachelor Pad which is produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television, the same production companies behind The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
Tonight, ABC will air two specials spotlighting legendary tightrope walker Nik Wallenda as he attempts to cross a highwire suspended 173 feet over Niagara Falls. ABC will first air Countdown to Niagara: The Greatest Megastunts of All Time at 8p followed by Megastunts: Highwire Over Niagara Falls Live! at 9p. These specials are anchored by Josh Elliott and ESPN’s Hannah Storm with reporting from Elliott, Storm, Bill Weir and Sam Champion. In addition to ABC’s specials airing tonight, SCIENCE debuts the new series Danger By Design next Monday at 9p documenting Nik Wallenda and his family as they create more death-defying stunts using science, skill and discipline. Danger By Design is produced by RelativityREAL/The Jay and Tony Show for SCIENCE.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will have Byron Allen, founder, chairman and CEO of Entertainment Studios as host of the 39th Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held this Sunday at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles.
Nominees for the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced by Kerry Washington, star of ABC’s Scandal and Nick Offerman, star on NBC’s Parks and Recreation on July 19 at 540a PT. The pair will relate the list of nominees along with TV Academy chairman/CEO Bruce Rosenblum from the Leonard H. Goldenson Theater in North Hollywood. The Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on ABC September 23 from L.A. Live’s Nokia Theatre hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
Later next month, Bryan Cranston will host the annual Television Critics Association awards on July 28 held in Los Angeles as part of the TCA press tour. This will be the first time Cranston will host the awards and he is also nominated in the drama category for his starring turn on AMC’s Breaking Bad.
For the fifth time, CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is the most-watched TV program in the world after receiving the International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series at the 52nd Monte Carlo Television Festival yesterday. This is the fifth time in seven years CSI has been granted this honor which is based on stats from Eurodata TV Worldwide that tallies the highest ratings worldwide in 2011 across five continents. CSI’s star Ted Danson was at the Monte Carlo Television Festival to accept the award for the series. CSI amassed more than 63 million viewers globally.
The premiere of TNT’s Dallas Wednesday night at 9p attracted nearly 6.9 million total viewers, making it the #1 scripted series debut on all of cable for the year-to-date. The new Dallas also tallied 1.9 million with A18-49 and close to 2.5 million among A25-54.
HISTORY journeys to the waters off the coast of South Africa for its newest series Shark Wranglers bowing July 1 at 10p. Well known ocean explorer and fisherman Chris Fischer and his crew carry out a dangerous research quest to discover the secrets of the deadly great white sharks in an attempt to save the creatures from extinction. Shark Wranglers is produced for HISTORY by Fischer Productions in association with Undertow Films.
New paranormal reality series Haunted Highway (formerly titled Paranormal Highway) opens on Syfy July 3 at 10p. The one-hour series follows two teams comprised of Jack Osbourne & Dana Workman and Jael de Pardo & Devin Marble as they conduct first-person investigations on paranormal activity found along America’s remote back roads. Throughout the six episodes, the teams will visit lonely roads in Utah, Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Arkansas and Louisiana as they seek ghosts, hellhounds and other paranormal phenomena. Haunted Highway is produced by BASE Productions.
MTV will debut a new late-night series, The Nikki and Sara Show later this year helmed by comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer airing weekly at 11p. Glaser and Schaefer host the podcast You Had to Be There where they tell jokes, star in sketches, conduct on-the-street interviews and host celebrity guests.
A second season of My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding was ordered by TLC just before the series’ season one finale airs this Sunday at 10p. The series, which highlights the hidden culture and outrageous wedding celebrations of American Gypsies, averaged 1.6 million viewers to date. In addition, TLC will air the one-hour special My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding: The Stanley Sisters, featuring Gypsy sisters Nettie, Mellie, Kayla and Laura on July 1 at 9p followed on the same night by a reunion special titled My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding: The Aftermath at 10p. The series is produced by Firecracker Films for TLC and Peacock Productions is behind the My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding reunion special for the network.
Mexican TV personality Marco Antonio Regil will host the Spanish-language version of the game show Minute to Win It (Minuto Para Ganar) that will debut on the new US broadcast network MundoFox in August. Adam Zuvich, who was the co-executive producer on NBC’s version of Minute to Win It will serve as the show’s EP; Rich Brown who managed all games for the NBC series will be the co-executive producer for Minuto Para Ganar.
A second season of Jazzy Vegetarian, with 13 30m episodes will launch on public television stations nationwide on July 1. Hosted by Laura Theodore, Jazzy Vegetarian will also debut June 26 on the Create Channel, the 24/7 TV channel offering public television shows in the how-to, travel and lifestyle genres. Jazzy Vegetarian will air on Create on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8a and 2p (check local listings).
The Television Syndication Company (TVS) offers a new syndicated science-themed television news service called Inside Science with 90-second news segments covering the latest developments in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The Inside Science vignettes are created to air in local TV newscasts. Two segments per week will be available for broadcast, internet and mobile and can be delivered to newsrooms via Pathfire 52 weeks a year.
WSET-TV, the ABC affiliate covering 24 counties around Lynchburg, Danville and Roanoke, VA is now offering WeatherNation’s national, regional and local weather news in tandem with the station’s weather experts to offer viewers 24/7 coverage of breaking weather news and forecasts. WeatherNation is a service of Denver-based WeatherNation TV, Inc. and offers 24/7 coverage of current and severe weather news and information in a meteorologist-hosted service available in both hi-def and standard-def formats to local broadcasters and cable operators.

Former Big Love star Jeanne Tripplehorn is joining the cast of CBS’ Criminal Minds as a series regular for the upcoming fall season. Tripplehorn’s character, described as a new profiler, will be introduced with the season eight premiere. Criminal Minds airs on Wednesdays at 9p on CBS.
OPTOMEN International, the distribution unit of Optomen Television owned by ALL3MEDIA, has secured international broadcast deals for Gordon Ramsay’s new US series Hotel Hell in more than 110 territories. Licensing agreements for Hotel Hell include BBC Worldwide’s channels in Asia and Africa; Discovery in Russia; the CIS and Italy; W9 France; TVNZ New Zealand; TV2 Denmark; TV2 Norway; Kanal Fem Sweden; VTM Belgium; and TVN Poland. Hotel Hell will debut on FOX on the US this August and is produced by Ramsay’s production company One Potato Two Potato.
London and Los Angeles-based factual television production company, Rize USA was commissioned to produce the six-part primetime series High School Moms for Discovery Fit & Health in the US. Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX notched another Wednesday night win among A18-49 at 2.5/8, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. FOX was off to a victorious start at 8p with So You Think You Can Dance at 2.4/8 with CBS’ Dogs in the City frolicking in second place at 1.1/4. The second hour of So You Think You Can Dance on FOX kept a steady beat through 9p at 2.5/7 while CBS’ Criminal Minds repeat and Univision’s Abismo de Pasion shared #2 at 1.4/4 each. Then at 10p, Univision’s La Que No Podia Amar moved into #1 at 1.7/5 and CBS’ CSI encore was next in line at 1.5/4.
