Following its debut episode, several advertisers including Taco Bell, General Motors and Wrigley said they would not continue advertising in the show.

Danny Glover tapped to star in FOX’s drama pilot Touch playing opposite Kiefer Sutherland. FOX is expected to premiere Touch in midseason. The plot is about a dad (Sutherland) and his autistic and mute son (David Mazouz) who can predict events before they happen. Glover will play Arthur DeWitt, a professor who works with gifted children. The drama is from Tim Kring, creator of Heroes who also wrote the script and is executive producing with Sutherland, Katherine Pope and Peter Chernin. 20th Television and Chernin Entertainment are producing.
New legal drama, The Firm from Entertainment One (eOne) and Sony Pictures Television Network handed Josh Lucas (The Lincoln Lawyer, Sweet Home Alabama) the starring role. The television series is based on the novel by John Grisham and Grisham and Lukas Reiter are set to serve as executive producers. Lucas will play attorney Mitchell McDeere (the same role Tom Cruise played in the feature film) and the plot picks up McDeere’s story about ten years later after the action in the novel and film.
A couple of former regular cast mates of ABC’s now canceled daytime drama All My Children are reprising their roles this summer. Eva La Rue, star of CBS’ CSI: Miami will appear in several episodes as Dr. Maria Santos Grey. Josh Duhamel, currently starring in the upcoming Transformers movie, will be back in his past role as con artist Leo du Pres.
Mark Pellegrino, presently co-starring in Syfy’s Being Human landed a recurring role on the final season of TNT’s The Closer, cites THR. Pellegrino will play Gavin Q. Baker III, a former city attorney-turned-partner in a private law firm that never loses a case. Pellegrino will appear in at least five episodes of The Closer which premieres its seventh and final season July 11 at 9p on TNT.
Starz’ upcoming original series Magic City, slated to launch in 2012, announced its complete cast: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko, Jessica Marais, Steven Strait, Christian Cooke and Danny Huston along with Dominik Garcia Lorido, Elena Satine, Kelly Lynch, Michael Rispoli, Yul Vazquez and Seymour Cassel. Production started in Miami this week on Magic City which was created by writer/producer Mitch Glazer. Starz ordered 10 episodes of the drama about mobsters in Miami circa late 1950’s. Glazer is the executive producer; Dwayne Shattuck is also producing and Ed Bianchi is co-producing.
Despite not picking up the comedy pilot from Rob Schneider for the fall, CBS apparently ordered several more scripts and may premiere the comedy in midseason, reports EW. Schneider wrote the pilot about a bachelor who marries into a tight-knit Mexican-American family; Eric and Kim Tannenbaum are the executive producers.
Production begins this summer in Fort Lauderdale, FL for the third season of Mission Beach USA for RTE Ireland produced by Rival Media. RTE commissioned eight half-hour episodes of the new season about a group of teens who train in the tough Lifeguard Summer School. The first season of the series was made for BBC2 in the UK though season two was made exclusively for RTE and was a big hit for the Irish network after it premiered last fall.
Casting Call: 51 Minds Entertainment, behind the series Rock of Love and For the Love of Ray J, are seeking women in the NY/NJ/CT/PA area who are, or have been a mistress to appear in a new pilot for a major cable network.
