CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Good morning. It’s Friday, June 10, 2005 and this is your first early morning briefing. The PUTS are up! The PUTS are up! Nielsen Media Research’s Local People Meters have found more viewers in San Francisco (18.6% more than previously detected), New York (9.1%), Chicago (1.4%) and Los Angeles (0.5%). In a May 2004 vs. May 2005 comparison, Nielsen found more people are watching television in local markets than were previously measured. Among those viewers, the largest demographic group represented was Men 18-49: San Francisco +31.3%, Chicago +16.3%, New York +12.7% and Los Angeles +7.5%. The LPMs also found viewers in general are watching more of a variety of channel than previously thought, in fact about 66% more channels are being viewed in May 2005 over May 2004. Advertising spending for the first quarter 2005 rose 2.4% over the same period last year, due to gains across major media, according to preliminary figures released today by Nielsen Monitor-Plus, the advertising intelligence service of Nielsen Media Research.

The show features absurd comedy with Andy at the center, stuck at home in his apartment in New York’s Lower East Side. Andy makes this show in his spare time and includes films starring himself, his dog, his neighbors and various inanimate objects. The season finale of UPN’s Britney and Kevin: Chaotic (Fairy Zone Prods, Inc.) is scheduled for June 14 at 8p and will include the world premiere of Britney’s video for her new single, Someday (I Will Understand). With its launch slated for June 30, Logo has picked up several series as well as commissioned a new original comedy show. And if that wasn’t enough, the FCC then moved up the deadline for all mid-sized TV sets to be compliant. Previous rulings order that large sets must have the digital tuner built in and on the shelves for consumers by July 1 of this year. The original rules also said that at least 50% of the mid-size TVs must have DTV tuners by July 1, 2005 the other half by July 1 2006. Yesterday’s ruling moved that latter date for 100% compliance up to March 1, 2006. And small tvs must be DTV tuner compatible by July 1, 2007, the same deadline as other TV receiving devices including DVDRs and VCRs. Note to self — two words over used beyond recognition: “passion” and “brilliant.” Listen for them, you’ll see. Get a thesaurus, find new words. Because everyone loves a good list to debate, here is one from the folks at Tivo who surveyed 1000 people to find out who they would vote for as Best TV Dad. The top 25 in rank order are: Cliff Huxtable-The Cosby Show, Sheriff Andy Taylor-The Andy Griffith Show, Pa Ingalls-Little House on the Prairie, Howard Cunningham-Happy Days, Ward Cleaver-Leave it to Beaver, Jim Anderson-Father Knows Best, Mike Brady-The Brady Bunch, Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor-Home Improvement, Reverend Eric Camden-7th Heaven, Danny Tanner-Full House, Raymond Barone-Everybody Loves Raymond, Philip Drummond-Diff’rent Strokes, Jim-According to Jim, George Lopez-The George Lopez Show, Michael Kyle-My Wife and Kids, Bernie “Mac” McCullough-The Bernie Mac Show, Reginald “Red” Forman-That ’70s Show, Archie Bunker-All in the Family, Sandy Cohen-The O.C., Frank Costanza-Seinfeld, Peter Griffin-Family Guy, Al Bundy-Married…With Children, Homer Simpson-The Simpsons, Tony Soprano-The Sopranos, Ozzy Osbourne-The Osbournes. Perhaps many of these were chosen not for being good dads, but being good to watch on TV dads …. Frank Costanza, Archie Bunker or Al Bundy are good-to-watch-on-TV Dads, but don’t bring them home to mom. * EXECUTIVE MOVES*
