FOX revealed yesterday Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler is exiting American Idol where he served as one of the judges for seasons 10 and 11.  Tyler is leaving the competition show to concentrate more on his music as his band Aerosmith will release a new album on November 6.  “It’s been a tremendous honor to have Steven – one of the most prolific artists in the world – on AMERICAN IDOL for the past two seasons,” said Mike Darnell, President/Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “He’s been a terrific judge, a true friend and great mentor to everyone involved with the show, and we know he’ll continue to be a huge inspiration to IDOL hopefuls for years to come. We are very sad that Steven has chosen to focus more on his music, but we always knew when we hired a rock ‘n’ roll legend, he would go back to the music. We all wish him all the best and would love to have him back on the show anytime.”  American Idol is produced by 19 Entertainment, a division of CKX, Inc. and FremantleMedia North America, Inc.

On Monday, new primetime telenovela, Por Ella Soy Eva (For Her, I’m Eva) premieres on Univision Network at 8p.  The telenovela airs Monday through Friday and centers on a passionate Casanova who falls for the woman whose heart he broke and has to dress like a woman in order to win her back.  The soap drama, with comedic twists and turns stars singer/actress/TV host Lucero and television and film actor Jaime Camil.

New one-hour docu-series Prom Queens is set to premiere on Lifetime August 14 at 10p following the series Dance Moms.  Prom Queens follows hopeful high school girls who want to reign as queens at their senior proms.   Eight different high schools will be spotlighted in California, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey and the series will chronicle the hopeful prom queens as they prepare for their competition through the actual crowning ceremony.  The eight-episode series is produced by Evolution Media.

In another week, Investigation Discovery will debut new series Happily Never After which documents true crimes involving newlyweds.  The series, narrated by Marlo Thomas and featuring expert commentary from relationship and human behavior expert, Dr. Wendy Walsh, follows the couples from their wedding day to the tragic homicide.  Happily Never After is produced by M2 Pictures and Investigation Discovery and premieres July 21 at 10p.

GSN slated the premiere date for its original series, The Pyramid, an all-new half-hour version of the classic word guessing game for September 3 at 6p.  Mike Richards will host The Pyramid which airs as a daily strip Monday through Friday at 6p.  Embassy Row produces in association with Sony Pictures Television.

A new twist is in store for Food Network’s competition series The Great Food Truck Race when the show returns this summer with a third season beginning August 19 at 10p.  Led by host Tyler Florence, the new season will not be a competition between present food truck operators as in the last two seasons, but between eight teams who want to launch a career in the food truck business.  These three-person teams have a dream, a concept and the necessary culinary skills; the show will provide a vehicle for the race and the grand prize winner will get to keep their food truck and a $50,000 cash prize to launch their dream business.  The seven episodes of The Great Food Truck Race will debut at 10p following the finale of Chopped: Grill Masters at 9p.  The Great Food Truck Race is produced by RelativityREAL, LLC.
