Conan O’Brien’s exit deal from NBC was finalized yesterday giving him a total of $45 million of which approximately $11-12 million will be divided among O’Brien’s 200+ staffers as severance pay. NBC also said O’Brien’s last The Tonight Show as host will be tonight and Jay Leno will return as host on March 1. The deal further stated O’Brien can appear on another network as soon as this September, though certain characters and skits he developed for NBC will remain the network’s property. NBC released this statement following O’Brien’s exit announcement, confirming their commitment to Jay Leno: “We’re pleased that Jay is returning to host the franchise that he helmed brilliantly and successfully for many years,” said Jeff Gaspin, Chairman of NBC Universal Television Entertainment. “He is an enormous talent, a consummate professional and one of the hardest-working performers on television.”  As of tonight, NBC will air Dateline in the 10p hour instead of The Jay Leno Show and following O’Brien’s departure, repeat episodes of The Tonight Show will air until the Olympics begins on February 12.
