Actor Andrew Koenig was reportedly found dead in Vancouver’s Stanley Park around noon yesterday. Koenig was reported missing by his parents after he didn’t return home to Los Angeles last week. He was last seen in Vancouver on February 14. The 41-year old Koenig is best known for playing the character “Boner” on the family sitcom Growing Pains. Koenig’s father, Walter Koenig, also an actor starred in the original version of Star Trek. VH1 brings back a second season of Sober House with Dr. Drew, documenting patients during the crucial transition period outside the rehab center as they try to merge back into society. The series’ second season follows patients from both Celebrity Rehab 3 and S*x Rehab with Dr. Drew including Tom Sizemore, Heidi Fleiss, Dennis Rodman, Jennifer Ketchan, Seth “Shifty” Binzer, Kendra Jade Rossi, Mike Starr and Kari Ann Peniche. Sober House 2 with Dr. Drew premieres on March 11 at 10p and is produced by Irwin Entertainment. As the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics on NBC winds down this weekend, Nielsen released a profile of the US demographics watching the games during primetime. Nuggets of information include:
Nielsen also asked Olympics viewers which ads they liked most and six out of the ten most favored ads had an Olympic theme. In Olympics primetime coverage on NBC through February 20, viewers cited ads by Visa, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble which had a direct mention about the Olympics or some type of imagery tied to the Games. BBC America will debut the US premiere of BBC’s drama series Doctor Who on April 17, following the UK broadcast. In this new reincarnation of the iconic series, Matt Smith stars as the eleventh Time Lord along with a new traveling companion, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan). Joan Rivers reprises her hosting role on TV Land’s reality series How’d You Get So Rich?, premiering a second season on May 5 at 10p. The original series takes viewers inside the extravagant homes of mega-millionaires while Joan asks blunt questions about how they made their fortunes. The six-episode series is produced by Mark Burnett Productions and Zoo Productions, Inc. Syfy scheduled its dramedy Warehouse 13 for a second season comeback beginning July 13. The series will have 12 new episodes airing throughout the summer without reruns. Spike TV reupped its college football comedy series Blue Mountain State for a sophomore season, per THR. Lionsgate TV and Varsity Pictures produce the series that is similar to Animal house about three frosh guys who attend the fictional college powerhouse college Blue Mountain State and try to balance football, women and classes. TuTv, a joint venture of Grupo Televisa, S.A.B. and Univision Communications Inc. and a distributor of five television networks throughout the Spanish-speaking countries, announced its Bandamax network featuring Regional Mexican music introduces a new schedule of original series. NBC opted to postpone production on the Prime Suspect remake pilot because the network could not find the right leading actress. In the original BBC award-winning series, Helen Mirren played the lead. NBC pushed the project to June. Jason Jones, known to fans as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, is getting his own show as he landed the lead in ABC’s comedy pilot How to Be a Better American. Jones will play a father on a journey to better himself taking his reluctant family along. Gillian Zinser who has a recurring role on The CW’s 90210 playing Ivy Sullivan just got a promotion to become a regular on the show, per THR. Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX was in charge Wednesday night with the A18-49 viewers at 8.7/23, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. There was no stopping American Idol on FOX during 8p as the competition show posted a winning 8.1/22 followed by NBC’s Olympics coverage beginning at 830p with a 4.5/12. FOX and American Idol swept through the 9p hour with a 9.2/23 while NBC’s Olympics came in second at 5.6/14. Larry Mendte was hired by WPIX/New York, the CW affiliate owned by Tribune Broadcasting as a Contributing Commentator.
