Oxygen has two new pilots in development: Teen Weddings, a one-hour program following several young couples as they plan their weddings through their post-honeymoon recap and Thrift Wars, a half-hour series set in the competitive world of thrifting in New York.
On the heels of her VH1 talk show in development announcement, Jenny McCarthy will become the host of NBC’s adventure/dating series Love in the Wild for its second season. Production begins later this month in the Dominican Republic.
Former Harold & Kumar actor Kal Penn will next appear in ABC’s comedy pilot Prairie Dogs. The single-camera comedy is from Jackie and Jeff Filgo about a lowly cubicle worker named Neil (Penn) who has his identity stolen, and then likes the new fake life he has acquired. He asks the con man to help him change his life.
ABC’s supernatural pilot 666 Park Avenue tapped former Lost star Terry O’Quinn to star as the historic apartment building’s owner, Gavin.
Also for ABC, Judy Greer’s comedy pilot added Mimi Kennedy. The comedy is about a sophisticated woman (Greer) who gets married and becomes a fish-out-of-water in the suburbs. Kennedy will play Greer’s character’s mother-in-law. ABC Studios is producing.
FOX’s spy drama pilot The Asset has cast Ali Larter (Heroes) in a starring role as Anna King, a photojournalist who works for the CIA as a world-travelling human intelligence specialist. 20th Century Fox Television is producing.
Previously starring in FX’s Rescue Me, Steve Pasquale signed on to become a series regular on NBC’s pilot Do No Harm. Pasquale will play neurosurgeon Jeffrey Kohl and his Hyde-like alter ego Ian Price.
Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) will soon be back at The CW, this time starring in the network’s upcoming version of Beauty and the Beast, loosely based on the 1980s CBS series of the same name.
Kelly Bishop was cast in ABC Family’s drama Bunheads from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. Sutton Foster stars as a trained ballerina-turned-Vegas showgirl who suddenly marries a man, moves to his sleepy coastal town and takes on an uncomfortable role at her mother-in-law’s dance studio. Bishop will play the recurring role of the mother-in-law, Fanny. Production is set to begin this spring and ABC Family is expected to debut the series this summer.
Co-lead investigator Grant Wilson of Syfy’s series Ghost Hunter is departing the show in a couple of months. Wilson’s last episode is May 16 and he will complete production in March.
Young actor Jacob Hopkins joins HBO’s True Blood to portray Alexander Kent, who turned to darkness at the tender age of 9 years, per THR. True Blood is currently in production on season five which bows this summer on HBO.
