Agency executives in New York City may be visited by a mobile gingerbread house next week that is making the rounds of top advertising agencies. The gingerbread house, filled with cookies, candy, hot apple cider and more is from ION Television promoting their holiday slogan “Your Home for the Holidays.” Executives from each designated ad agency will also have the opportunity to enter a contest to win daily prizes.
MTV has a new docu-series Washington Heights set to debut with double episodes on January 9 at 10p. The one-hour series is set in the diverse New York neighborhood of Washington Heights following nine best friends from the area. Washington Heights will also air internationally next year on MTV channels worldwide. The 11-episode series is produced by Gigantic! Productions for MTV.
Gay TV network Here TV is producing new Broadway-inspired videos titled The Advocate’s Seat Filler that will become regular feature segments on the network’s series Just Josh. The segments are produced in conjunction with The Advocate and Advocate.com and will also run as stand-alone videos across Here Media’s websites: Advocate.com, OUT.com, SheWired.com, Gay.com and Gay.net. The videos are hosted by Josh Rosenzweig and will highlight Broadway shows such as Annie, Elf, Chaplin, The Anarchist, Bare and more.
Long-running primetime series What Not To Wear will debut its 10th season on TLC on January 3. The premiere episode features ’80s pop star Tiffany who nominated herself to find a new, modern style with the help of fashion experts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly. What Not To Wear is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions for TLC.
Programming Note: Tony Bennett becomes the first non-Hispanic celebrity to star in a primetime holiday special on Univision airing this Sunday at 10p. Feliz Navidad Con Los Nuestros… Tony Bennett y Sus Amigos will offer a combination of live performances and filmed vignettes tying in with Bennett’s newly released CD, VIVA DUETS. The one-hour special is hosted by Univision’s Giselle Blondet and includes segments with Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Romeo Santos and more.

Lifetime ordered a new family docu-soap series Preachers’ Daughters that follows the lives of teenage pastors’ daughters and their parents. The eight-episode series will explore the daily pressures of these teens as they struggle with the strong beliefs and traditions of their families. Preachers’ Daughters is slated to premiere on Lifetime in 2013 and is produced by Thinkfactory Media. Adam Reed, Emily Sinclair, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif all serve as EPs along with Lifetime’s Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy, Kimberly Chessler and Toby Faulkner. A+E Networks will be involved with global sales for the series.
Independent studio Entertainment One (eOne) has signed an exclusive first-look television production deal with producer Paula Hart and her company Hartbreak Films. Hart will work in tandem with Ira Pincus, executive producer at eOne Television and Olivier Dumont, managing director of eOne Family where she will develop and produce various television projects including series, TV movies and animation programming. For any project developed and produced under this agreement, eOne will handle worldwide distribution.
Hearst Corporation and NorthSouth Productions are involved in a joint venture allowing Hearst to acquire 50% of the company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The joint venture will be part of Hearst Entertainment & Syndication, operated by Scott Sassa, president which includes ownership in the cable networks A&E, HISTORY and ESPN; a joint venture with Mark Burnett, One Three Media; King Features Syndicate; and an investment in social gaming company SpookyCool among other holdings.
Banijay International’s reality dating format Origins of Love (11 eps/60m) will be produced by the company’s Swedish unit, Nordisk FilmTV Sweden to air on TV3 Sweden starting next spring. The second season with 12 one-hour episodes goes into production for primary broadcaster TV2 Norway launching in first quarter 2013. A third adaptation of the format will air on Ukrainian channel 1+1 following a license deal forged in July 2012.
Documentary series Murder She Solved: True Crime is back for a third season on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada) starting January 5 at 8p. The one-hour series is produced by Vancouver-based Force Four Entertainment in association with Mystique Films and developed and produced in collaboration with Corus Entertainment’s OWN (Canada).
Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited, parent company of CNN International signed a broadcast affiliate deal with soon-to-launch Bulgarian channel News7. The agreement provides News7 with exclusive access to video and newsgathering resources from CNN and in turn, CNN will gain access to News7’s own reporting from Bulgaria gathered by reporters in Sofia and other regional hubs. This agreement marks the first of its kind for CNN in Eastern Europe.
