~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE & CLEARANCE ~

Recently launched new television network, ASPiRE from Magic Johnson Enterprises and aimed at the African American audience is using Comcast Media Center’s (CMC) Content Services division to provide channel origination and transmission services.  ASPiRE originates from CMC’s advance-playback platform which was created to improve program uptime while at the same decrease operator duties.  CMC originates the network in hi-def format and also converts it into standard-def.  ASPiRE launched in June with its first distribution partners as Comcast and Time Warner Cable.  To date, ASPiRE is available in nearly seven million homes and in 16 of the top 25 African American markets.

Beginning this month, NYC Media, the City of New York’s official network and WNET are partnering where both television providers will share content with each other and their programs will feature different parts of NYC.  NYC Life, the flagship station of NYC Media will air episodes of Treasures of New York and MetroFocus while WNET and WLIW will air NYC Life’s special about NYC’s parks as part of Treasures of New York.  (Check local listings for complete schedules.)
