Real-life married celebrity couple Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin will appear in their own reality series on TV Land when Harry Loves Lisa opens October 6 at 10p. The series goes inside their marriage and the home life they share with their two daughters as well as the professional life in Hollywood they both pursue. Jason Carbone executive produces the series with his company Good Clean Fun.
WE tv brings back a third season of its original series Amazing Wedding Cakes beginning August 29 at 10p. The series will air along with other wedding-themed series, Bridezillas and My Fair Wedding with David Tutera as part of the network’s Ultimate Wedding Sunday weekly programming block. Staying on the cake theme, WE tv also debuts the new series The Cupcake Girls this Saturday at 9p. During 13 episodes, this series introduces viewers to two best friends who attempt to build a major cupcake enterprise. Double episodes air each Saturday night at 9p and 930p. Amazing Wedding Cakes is produced by WE tv and Film Garden while The Cupcake Girls is produced by Force Four Entertainment and distributed by Cineflix International.
Beginning this Sunday, Universal Sports will provide daily highlights of the first-ever Youth Olympic Games (YOG) running thirteen days until August 27. Universal Sports’ daily coverage begins at 2p featuring all 26 sports involved in YOG which will be spotlighted as part of the London Olympic Games in 2012.
Last Monday’s premiere of Too Fat for 15: Fighting Back on The Style Network attracted 1.3 million total unique viewers across various telecasts that day.
Bravo’s first season finale of Work of Art: The Next Great Artist on Wednesday delivered 1.48 million total viewers and 826,000 A18-49 viewers.
Syfy has picked up Season #3 of the Merlin series from FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME). Season two of Merlin finished on Syfy July 2, averaging 1.72 million total viewers and 687,000 among A18-49 based on Live +7 DVR data. The third season of Merlin will make its US television premiere on Syfy early next year. Shine TV created and produced Merlin and FME handles exclusive distribution, home entertainment and licensing rights to the series. Season three of Merlin will debut in the UK on BBC One in September.
Syfy commissioned a scripted pilot from Bryan Fuller, the creator of Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies. The pilot is based on the novel The Lotus Caves by John Christopher about rebellious colonists who go exploring beyond the rigid boundaries of their lunar colony and then discover caves ruled by a highly intelligent alien species. Jim Grey was tapped to co-write the script with Fuller.
Carlsbad, CA-based TransWorld Media, a global action sports publishing company is teaming with Apparent Gravity Media (AGM) to produce its first television series titled TransWorld Sessions. Over 26 half-hour episodes, TransWorld Sessions will look at the various action sports categories such as freestyle motocross, skate, snowboarding, BMX and surfing and additionally will profile top action sports athletes. The series is targeting males 14-34 years with a planned debut this October.
Pat O’Brien, the former host of The Insider and Access Hollywood, is going back to being a sportscaster, taking a new position on Fox Sports Radio’s Loose Cannons weekday afternoon show where he joins Steve Hartman and Vic “The Brick” Jacobs. O’Brien begins his new job on Monday. O’Brien’s sports background includes covering the Olympics and Super Bowl as well as the NCAA Basketball Tournament on CBS Sports among other gigs.
Jeremy Davidson (Lifetime’s Army Wives) was cast as Kitty’s (Calista Flockhart) new love interest on ABC’s Brothers & Sisters, per EW. Davidson joins the drama for its fifth season and his character debuts in late October/early November.
Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX and NBC shared #1 Wednesday night at 2.2/7 each among A18-49, according to final national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, CBS was in charge with Big Brother at 2.4/8 with FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance next in line at 2.2/8. NBC got the glory at 9p with America’s Got Talent at 2.8/8 while UNIV’s Soy Tu Duena placed second at 2.4/7. NBC held onto #1 through 10p with a Law & Order: SVU repeat at 1.8/6 followed by CBS’ CSI: NY encore at 1.2/4.

Bryan Norcross joined The Weather Channel (TWC) as the network’s new on-air hurricane specialist for the season. Bryan, who was previously the hurricane analyst for CBS and the chief meteorologist at WTVJ/Miami, will work in tandem with TWC’s hurricane expert Dr. Rick Knabb to offer viewers in-depth tropical storm coverage and analyses during the hurricane season.
Six Point Harness Animation Studio hired Chapman Maddox as Director/Development. Chapman comes from Cartoon Network/Adult Swim where he worked in comedy development and current series. In his new role, Chapman will concentrate on developing a roster of original shows targeting kids, adults and the digital arena.
