~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

A new original series, Family Trade will join GSN’s (formerly Game Show Network) lineup in 2013.  The series is centered on G-Stone Motors, a GMC and Ford dealership located in Middlebury, Vermont.  GSN ordered eight episodes from Lionsgate.

Daniel Sunjata was cast in a recurring role as Debra Messing’s new love interest on NBC’s Smash.  Sunjata has recently appeared in the summer blockbuster Dark Knight Rises and before that was a regular on FX’s Rescue Me and did a multiple ep run on ABC Grey’s Anatomy.  NBC will debut the second of Smash in midseason.

Perry Ferrell, the Jane’s Addiction frontman is soliciting the broadcast networks to pick up his television music show project, reports EW.  The series premise would have professional musicians offer live performances with no judges and no eliminations.  Ferrell is also the founder of Lollapalooza.

Correction: In Thursday’s edition, we included a website link to the IFC series Portlandia and mislabeled it as a scene from the upcoming third season.  The sketch was, in fact, from season two.
