~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Two new original series added to premium network Showtime’s schedule including one-hour psychological drama Homeland starring Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin from FOX 21, along with House of Lies, the 30m comedy helmed by Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell.  Both series were granted 12 episodes and each will commence production this summer. 

Three of the Jersey Shore cast mates will get their own spinoff shows from MTV.   Best girlfriends Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley will be featured in one while the second show will highlight Paul “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio’s steady job as a DJ.  Neither series has a title yet though each received 12episode orders and production will begin later this year for 2012 premieres.  495 Productions, behind the original Jersey Shore is producing both new series.  The full cast is still expected to travel to Italy this spring for the filming of the next season of Jersey Shore.

NBC scheduled the remaining five episodes of freshman action/drama series The Chase to air starting April 23 at 8p.  The Chase stars Kelli Giddish as a tough US Marshal and its last airing on January 26 delivered 4.17 million total viewers.

Midseason animated comedy, Bob’s Burgers renewed by FOX for a sophomore season.  Produced by 20th Century Fox, Bob’s Burgers is part of the network’s Animation Domination Sunday night block. 

This Saturday, HRTV spotlights two $1 million horse races in preparation for the Kentucky Derby, the Wood Memorial from Aqueduct and the Santa Anita Derby.

Soccer network GolTV covers two international soccer matches featuring the famous Spanish rivalry between teams FC Barcelona and Real Madrid dubbed the “Superclasico” starting with La Liga’s semiannual Clasico on April 16 at 4p followed by another game, the Copa Del Rey final on April 20.  Leading up to the first match, GolTV will air nightly primetime specials next Monday through Friday at 730p and on Gameday April 16 El Clasico Special Programming starts at 1130a.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~

One-hour series My So-Called Life which catapulted actress Claire Danes to stardom, picked up by Sundance Channel from Disney-ABC Domestic Television.  The drama series about a group of suburban teenagers facing various social issues will premiere on Sundance Channel April 25 at 11p.  My So-Called Life originally aired on ABC from 1994-1995 and was produced by The Bedford Falls Company in association with ABC Productions, Inc.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Mary McDonnell promoted to series regular on TNT’s The Closer.  McDonnell will continue as Captain Sharon Raydor for the series’ final seventh season starring Kyra Sedgwick with 21 total episodes  10 airing this summer, five next winter and the final six eps during summer 2012.  There is also speculation McDonnell will replace Sedgwick if TNT opts to continue The Closer franchise or some of The Closer’s present cast will transition into a spinoff titled Major Crimes.

Collette Wolfe, recently seen on ABC’s Cougar Town is moving to NBC for the comedy pilot Loveliness, per TVLine.  Wolfe replaces Amanda Loncar’s role on the pilot playing Holly, newly married to Tim (Ryan Hansen) as they  deal with the reality of being a newly married couple.

Amid open auditions for FOX’s upcoming competition series The X Factor, it was revealed the show will sport two hosts mainly to differentiate it from American Idol.  So far, the only judge confirmed is former record label chairman L.A. Reid.  The X Factor will debut this fall on FOX.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis:   FOX held its #1 perch Wednesday night among A18-49 viewers with a 6.4/18, according to final national ratings from Nielsen.  At 8p, American Idol on FOX dominated with a 7.1/22 and CBS had a steady second place showing with Survivor: Redemption Island at 3.2/10.  FOX made good during 9p with the last half-hour of American Idol and the premiere of new series Breaking In averaging a 5.6/15 (Breaking In posted a solo 3.5/9 at 930p and 9.8 million total viewers); following at 9p was CBS’ Criminal Minds at 3.6/9.  NBC made it to #1 at 10p with Law & Order: SVU at 2.4/6 and CBS’ Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior trailed in #2 at 2.1/6.
