~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Based on network research analysis, the Canadian primetime soap The L.A. Complex on The CW has now become the lowest-rated-in-season broadcast drama debut on record.  Tuesday’s series launch had 646,000 total viewers and posted a 0.3/1 among A18-49.   On Wednesday, The L.A. Complex delivered more viewers with a repeat of episode one than the series launch at 721,000 total viewers.

A new unscripted series on Lifetime will delve into modern gender roles and what happens when women leave town and the men have to run their own households, businesses and the community on their own.  The Week the Women Went debuts June 6 with a 90-min episode starting at 10p.  This limited series, set in Yemassee, South Carolina is based on a British social experiment and is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions.  One-hour episodes will continue on June 13 and June 20 at 10p.  The series ends on June 27 with a two-hour finale starting at 9p. 

ABC Family’s current run of teen drama Make It or Break It will be the program’s final season.  The series finale will air on May 14. 

Steven Seagal’s crime drama series True Justice was picked up for a second season by REELZCHANNEL.  The network gave the upcoming new season 13 episodes.  True Justice is the first original scripted drama series for REELZCHANNEL and season one premiered on March 30. 

Spanish-language lifestyle network, Utilisima debuts the new original series Tu vida mas simple on May 16 at 6p.  The one-hour lifestyle show is hosted by Martin Llorens and Luz Blanchet and will include segments hosted by experts on cooking, crafts and decor, fashion and beauty, parenting, health, celebrations and more.  The series has 60 episodes in its initial run and will air Monday through Friday. 

National music television network, Fuse, part of the Madison Square Garden Company is airing the 2012 MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS on June 17 at 9p.  The awards will be based in Toronto to simulcast the awards show for the third straight year.  Prior to the awards show, which will feature stars such as Katy Perry, Fuse will air the Red Carpet special at 8p.

UPFRONT 2012: MTV

MTV hosted its Upfront event at the Beacon Theatre in New York City yesterday evening and offered up premiere dates for its returning series and the debut of one new series and details on a new slate of scripted and reality series.  MTV further showed a preview of its upcoming “storytelling without borders” effort.

Upcoming series for MTV:  The network gave advertisers a preview of its upcoming series including Catfish, a docu-series inspired by the documentary film of the same name; scripted comedy Inbetweeners based on a popular UK series; Underemployed from Emmy Award-nominated executive producer, Craig Wright; reality series Wake Brothers; and the new scripted comedy, Zach Stone is Gonna be Famous starring Bo Burnham.

New and returning series for MTV: Snooki & JWOWW debuts June 21 at 10p and the comedy Awkward marking its second season debuts on June 28 at 1030p.  MTV is also renewing MTV2’s Guy Code for a second season and will add the series to its schedule this July.  The second season of Teen Wolf will debut over two nights beginning June 3 at 11p and with part two airing at 10p the next night.  MTV is also bringing back Jerzdays on Thursday nights and adding in a female twist.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE & CLEARANCE ~

Firefly Brand Management was selected as the licensing agent for ABC’s drama Revenge.  Firefly will license the show for such products as apparel, perfume, HBA, games, food and drink, jewelry, accessories, travel and home decor.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

Production has started in Los Angeles for Men at Work, the new original comedy series for TBS produced by Sony Pictures Television.  Breckin Meyer created the sitcom about four buddies who work together at a magazine.  The ensemble cast includes Danny Masterson, Michael Cassidy, Adam Busch, James Lesure and Meredith Hagner.  Men at Work is set to debut May 24 with back-to-back episodes at 10p. 

ITV1 has commissioned SevenOne International’s format My Man Can produced by ITV Studios.  Mark Wright and Melanie Sykes host the series containing 75-minute episodes that will launch in primetime in 2013.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis:  FOX and NBC tied for first place Tuesday with the A18-49 demo at 2.4/7 each, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen.   FOX won at 8p with Glee at 2.7/8 and NBC came in second with The Biggest Loser at 2.2/7.  NBC moved up to #1 during 9p with The Voice Results Show at 3.4/9 followed by ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Results Show at 2.4/6.  Also this hour, The CW debuted new series The LA Complex with a 0.3/1 in the demo.  Then ABC pivoted into first place at 10p with Private Practice delivering a 2.2/6 and Univision trailed next with La Que No Podia Amar 1.9/5.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis:  FOX was steady-eddy week to week Wednesday by posting a 4.8/14 A18-49, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen.  At 8p, FOX’s American Idol won at 4.5/14 while CBS’ Survivor: One World followed at 2.7/8.  American Idol remained in the lead for FOX at 5.0/13 during 9p and ABC’s comedies Modern Family and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 followed in #2 with an average of 2.1/6.  Then at 10p, ABC’s Revenge did best at 2.1/6 and Univision’s La Que No Podia Amar was in second place at 1.9/5.

Media and marketing agency, Media Storm named Frank Connolly as Executive Director/CFO, effective immediately.  Frank will report to the company’s Co-Founder/Managing Partner, Tim Williams and is based at the agency’s South Norwalk office.

Karl Meyer takes on a new position as VP/Business Development for BrightLine iTV in Los Angeles.  Before this appointment, Karl worked for Dish Network managing ad sales on the West Coast.

Lino Alvarez was appointed VP/Sales for Meruelo Media’s KWHY-TV, the MundoFox Flagship station.  Lino began his new position as of yesterday. 

Tim Hammond has joined independent TV production and distribution group, DCD Media in the newly-created role as MD/UK Production.  Tim is based in London.
