Investigation Discovery’s Hit Series
ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN Returns This Sunday ON THE CASE was the #1 series and the highest-rated original series debutfor ID in 2009 Award winning journalist, Paula Zahn uncovers the truth on Contact VP Sales [email protected] FOX announced updates to its summer schedule. Highlights of new and returning series premieres plus the season finale of Glee are as follows:
Telemundo is introducing its new Sunday morning public affairs show Enfoque hosted by news anchor Jose Diaz-Balart, premiering this Sunday at 1130a. Broadcasting from Washington, DC, Diaz-Balart will moderate discussions with world and US leaders, people in the news as well as celebrities to ordinary Americans on topics that are on the forefront in the Hispanic community. Each half-hour weekly broadcast will also include a segment titled the American Dream, helping Hispanic achieve their personal dreams and featuring profiles of real-life people. Guests on the inaugural show this Sunday include an interview with First Lady Michelle Obama in Mexico; Cecilia Munoz, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House; Gustavo Torres, Director of Casa Maryland; and Amelia Ceja, owner of Ceja Vineyards in Napa Valley profiled in the American Dream segment. HBO is giving Real Time with Bill Maher a ninth season renewal coinciding with the network’s new two-year deal with Maher. The show renewal also ups the number of 60m episodes from 28 this season to 35 next year with new episodes premiering in early 2011. TLC renewed its fashion makeover series What Not To Wear for an eighth season with 26 total episodes scheduled to debut this October. Produced by BBC Worldwide Productions for TLC, the series starring fashion gurus Stacy London and Clinton Kelly averages 1.4 million total viewers. Bloomberg Television launched the second season of Innovators this week with a total of six half-hour episodes airing weekly on Thursday and Friday nights at 9p and 11p through May 20. The next episode airing on April 22 is hosted by Bloomberg Television’s Matt Miller and covers the technology and innovations behind medicine and showcases the non-profit organization, Diagnostics for All. Discovery Channel’s sixth season opener of Deadliest Catch Tuesday night at 9p boasted 4.6 million total viewers, making it the most-watched show on cable that night. Additionally, the season premiere posted a 2.66 rating among A25-54, which makes the episode one of the top 25 highest-rated primetime telecasts in the network’s history. New series Construction Intervention following at 10p attracted 1.6 million total viewers. And on a side note … some final notes about Cannes, MIPTV and getting home … As you read this, I will be on a plane headed back home from Cannes, France. I was one of the lucky ones in that the volcanic ash from Iceland does not impact my flight from France to New York. All around me on my last evening were people trying to get to Canada, any number of destinations in Europe, and learned they would be “stranded” in Cannes for one to three more days. Seats on trains went fast (despite the rail strike there were a few trains), and seats on planes headed to NY were suddenly costing upwards of $3500 each. Quite the scene. I know, you’re thinking if you had to get stuck someplace, Cannes isn’t awful. And true enough, it’s not. But really, anyplace is awful when you’re trying to get home, isn’t it? With that said, a little good food, some commiserating with other “stranded” passengers, the sun, the Mediterranean and maybe a little something to wash down the fois gras, and they’ll make the best of bad situation. Good luck fellow MipTV-ers, hope you get home soon! A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM THE WEATHER CHANNEL
