CYNTHIA TURNER’S
Cynopsis

04/15/05

Good morning.  It’s Friday, April 15, 2005, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Fox has order its first pilot to series for the upcoming season.  The Break (20th/Adelstein-Parouse Prods/Rat TV) (fka Prison Break) follows the elaborate plans of a prison break over the course of 22 episodes.  At the center is a death row inmate; and enter his brother, an engineer who managed to get himself arrested and tossed into the same prison, with the primary objecting being to break his brother out.  The series stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Robin Tunney, Amaury Nolasco, Marshall Allman, Sarah Wayne Callies, Peter Stormare and Wade Williams. Brett Ratner will direct.  No word yet from Fox as to where on the schedule it may appear, or if it will debut in the late summer or fall.

20th Television has announced it will not go forward with another season of Ambush Makeover (Banyan Prods).  With that said, first run eps will continue to air until September 12 in syndication.  Additionally, with almost 300 episodes produced, 20th is looking into providing this show as a library series for broadcast and/or cable networks.

A separate statement from 20th about an entirely different matter read in part like this:  “We are currently discussing internally the creative direction of the next season of The Simple Life.  We are huge fans of both Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie and look forward to solidifying our plans for the next installment of this fantastic franchise in the very near future.”  Apparently all the money in the world doesn’t necessary mean two happy gals will remain friends and buddies forever or at least want to continue doing a show together, per Hollywood Reporter.  Reported on Paramount’s The Insider is the show is considering a replacement for Richie, namely in Rod Stewart’s daughter, Kimberly.

Other credits to Polone’s name include Revelations on NBC, Gilmore Girls on WB and HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.  Pariah has also hired two new execs:  Amanda Klein as VP/Feature Development and Beata Henrichs as Director/Development.  Both will focus primarily on the television side of Pariah’s business.

Marx’s and Johnson’s responsibilities grew significantly at the close of the Sony/MGM deal, the combination of these two libraries greatly expanding their degree of oversight.  They are responsible for the gathering of all rights and financial information in preparation for sales, tracking product sales, and updating the sales and financial status of each film at all times.

Friday Fun Fact: According to studies conducted at Northwestern University, men change their minds two to three times more than women. Women tend to take longer to make a decision, but once they do, they are more likely to stick to it.  No, wait…maybe not.  Uh, change that, reverse it.  Oh no, hang on, yeah, keep it the way it was. That’s good.
