A Trump presidency could lead to a “break out year” for media M&A, as regulation is expected to be much more lax, according to Variety. Citing several industry sources, the trade publication said media chiefs had hoped for an administration more open to consolidation in the past – without endorsing any candidates – and Trump is expected to oust the heads of the FTC and DOJ that have blocked media mergers.

Netflix announced that the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” will premiere in 2025 and released a video with the names of the final eight episodes of the series: “The Crawl,” “The Vanishing of…,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “Sorcerer,” “Shock Jock,” “Escape from Camazotz,” “The Bridge,” and “The Rightside Up.”

Programmatic media company MiQ tracked TV viewership trends for over 65 million households who tuned into election coverage on November 5. According to its analysis:
· The average watch time per household was 122 minutes, with the avid viewer segment spending 3 hours following coverage.
· Viewership peaked between 9-10 PM, with 60% of new tune-ins occurring after 7p.
· Partisan tracking showed 26% Republican, 24.4% Democrat, and a significant 49.6% non-partisan viewers.
· NBC and FOX led coverage with 32% and 31% household penetration, respectively.
· Swing states had 10% higher viewership than other states. Key battleground states showed strong engagement as well: Michigan (50.8%), North Carolina (50%), and Wisconsin (48.2%).
· Demographics showed near-even male/female viewership split (49.1%/50.9%).
· Post-midnight saw a 28% drop in viewership after initial results were called.

Tennis Channel is introducing a direct-to-consumer streaming service merging its flagship 24-hour network with live and on-demand multicourt coverage on November 12. The streamlined platform integrates all content previously available through subscription-streaming service Tennis Channel+, with more than 10,000 hours of live and on-demand tennis. Current subscribers will receive the flagship channel at no extra charge. At the same time, cable and satellite video customers that receive Tennis Channel as part of their linear pay-TV bundle will also have authenticated access through the network app and website to the enhanced content previously only available Tennis Channel+, also at no further cost.

   PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

According to The Hollywood Reporter, several sources have confirmed that Warner Bros. Studios has been quietly developing at least one film in the “Game of Thrones” universe of author George R.R. Martin. The project is in the very early stages of development – no cast, filmmaker, writer or production date has been set – but sources tell the publication that the studio is keen on bringing the saga to the big screen, something the original producers and Martin himself had wanted to do early on.

Part 1 of TLC’s two-part season finale “Tell-All” episodes of “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way” will premiere November 18, with Part 2 airing November 25. The season finale of “I Love a Mama’s Boy” is set to air November 18, followed by new episodes of “1,000-lb Sisters” and “1,000-lb Best Friends” on November 19. New episodes of “90-Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days,” “90-Day Fiancé Pillow Talk: Before the 90 Days” and “Sister Wives” will air on November 24.

   SPORTS REPORT

Fox Sports said the Ohio State University-Penn State University matchup on its Big Noon Saturday broadcast was the network’s most watched college football game and the most watched Big Ten CFB game of the season on any network, with 9.4 million viewers.

FloSports debuted “FloWrestling: Night in America,” a new weekly primetime wrestling franchise, on November 6 with the North Central College women’s and men’s teams wrestling Carthage College in back-to-back duals. FloWrestling is now available on the updated FloSports Connected TV app on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV devices. The service will also be available on the web and for download on mobile devices (iOS and Android) via the FloSports app.

Prime Video will exclusively stream its first NWSL playoff game November 8 with a quarterfinal match featuring No. 1 seed Orlando Pride hosting No. 8 seed Chicago Red Stars at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando City. Coverage begins at 8p, and features play-by-play announcer Mike Watts, analyst Heather O’Reilly, and sideline analyst Britney Eurton.

During the week before the election, October 28 – November 3, FOX News Channel was the number one network with primetime and total day viewers, beating out the football focused sports networks across all dayparts. In primetime, FNC earned 2.7 million viewers and 350,000 in the 25-54 demo. In total day (6a-6a), FNC posted 1.7 million viewers and 226,000 in the 25-54 demo.
