   IN THE NEWS

After 54 years on CBS, the Grammys will have a new home starting in 2027. Disney struck a 10-year deal with The Recording Academy to simulcast the ceremony on ABC, Hulu and Disney+. “Live events have never been more important to our culture and industry, and we just acquired one of the crown jewels,” said Dana Walden, Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman.

CBS ordered nine more episodes of “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” for a full season of 22. The “Young Sheldon” spinoff racked up 10.6 multi-platform viewers in its first seven days, according to VideoAmp.

YouTube reported quarterly ad revenue of $8.92 billion, up 12.2% year-over-year. Analysts had forecast $8.89 billion.

Roku also topped Wall Street estimates, with third quarter revenue up 16% to $1.06 billion. In a letter to shareholders, the company said it will no longer report the number of active households on a regular basis, but share key milestones.

Count Meta a winner, too, beating estimates with total revenue of $40.6 billion, up 19% from the year-earlier period. The number of daily users across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp hit 3.29 billion, up 5%.

Disney+ has launched a Top 10 Today feature on the homepage, highlighting popular movies and series. Lineups will be curated based on the subscriber’s content rating, subscription plan and location. “The Top 10 Today set takes several factors into account, including total views at the episode and movie level within a day and the growing popularity of new titles released during that time frame,” said Disney+ in a statement. “Views are a component of the Top 10 Today formula but it’s not the sole determining factor.”

Publicis Media let go close to 100 employees for violations of its RTO policy. “We have been clear and consistent about our policy that employees work from the office at least three days a week, an expectation that is being met and exceeded by the majority of our talent,” said a spokesperson for Publicis Media US, which has 10,000 employees.

Amazon is enlisting both the NBA and the NFL in its 2025 Black Friday engagement efforts. Prime Video grabbed a long-term rights deal with the NBA for Black Friday games starting in 2025, after introducing a Black Friday NFL game last year.

Disney is launching “ESPN Football Island” on Fortnite, offering players activities, challenges, and a take on football gameplay called “Touchdown Rush.” The move follows Disney’s $1.5 billion investment in Fortnite owner Epic Games.

Optimum TV is launching two new video packages, Extra TV and Everything TV, on November 4. The offerings come after the launch of Entertainment TV earlier this year.

Samsung Ads announced initial results from its Connected TV (CTV) to Mobile beta program, which leverages Samsung’s CTV platform to drive mobile outcomes for brands. “Our mission is to provide our advertising partners with solutions that deliver brand engagement – from awareness to conversion – on their most important business outcomes,” said Travis Scott Howe, Global Vice President, Head of New Product Solutions, Samsung Electronics. “Outcome-based conversion solutions on CTV will become a greater part of the overall marketing mix in the future. Samsung Ads continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with CTV to deliver measurable and optimized outcomes.”

GeoEdge has been selected by Yahoo DSP to enhance the security of its advertising ecosystem. Ad quality controls support Yahoo in protecting against high-risk and harmful creative content, including political and election ads, safeguarding global audiences. “GeoEdge’s innovative ad security technology allows us to proactively prevent harmful ads from reaching our users and maintain a trusted environment for advertisers and publishers,” said Giovanni Gardelli, VP Ads Data, Yahoo DSP. “This partnership allows us to stay ahead of evolving risks while ensuring that our ad inventory remains secure and compliant.”

DOOH is on the rise and that growth will continue, Jason Kuperman, Chief Product Experience Officer, OUTFRONT, tells Cynopsis. “We’re very optimistic about the ongoing revenue growth potential of Digital Out of Home as its capabilities across three main areas continue to evolve,” Kuperman tells Cynopis, pointing to, “the ability to target audiences; the ease with which advertisers can plan, transact and execute; and the attributable measurement of outcomes, as well as the ability to implement learnings to improve those outcomes. While the traditional digital advertising ecosystems offers a lot for DOOH to emulate to achieve these capabilities, there are still some differences specific to a one-to-many media, and out of home, that require their own solutions.”

Barry Frey, President and CEO of the DPAA, agrees with the sunny outlook. “Coming out of our annual Video Everywhere Summit — which we have been producing for ten years now — I am of course always inspired and optimistic about where Digital Out of Home advertising is going. As a growing part of today’s omnichannel mix, less siloed than ever, DOOH continues to grow and drive overall OOH investments by brands. What’s more, we are seeing new areas explode, from programmatic buying, to innovative formats utilizing 3D/interactive QR codes/AR/VR and more, integration of social with OOH, plus the ascendence of Retail Media. In fact with retail a $100+ Billion Dollar business and in-store advertising (where 84% of purchases are still made) only scratching the surface, we have dubbed November Retail Media Month in order to shine a spotlight on this growing and important area for brands.”
