Amazon Web Services suffered a major outage on Monday, impacting Amazon, Venmo, Facebook, Google, and some airlines and banks, among many others. While Amazon reported seeing signs of recovery early in the morning, connectivity issues persisted. According to AWS, the problem stemmed from a Domain Name System (DNS) issue that prevented applications from locating the DynamoDB API, a cloud database used by multiple services.

OpenAI has added new protections around Sora 2, following fears raised by SAG-AFTRA, CAA and UTA over threats to actors’ voices and likenesses. “I was deeply concerned not just for myself, but for all performers whose work and identity can be misused in this way,” said actor Bryan Cranston. “I am grateful to OpenAI for its policy and for improving its guardrails, and hope that they and all of the companies involved in this work, respect our personal and professional right to manage replication of our voice and likeness.”

The monthly churn rates for Disney+ and Hulu reportedly doubled in September amid calls for boycotts over ABC parent Disney’s decision to suspend “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, as well as price increases. According to Antenna, Disney+’s cancellation rate rose from 4% to 8%, and Hulu’s from 5% to 10%. Antenna also estimates Disney+ and Hulu gained 2.18 million and 2.11 million new subscribers, respectively, last month.

BBB National Programs’ Children’s Advertising Review Unit released the Generative AI & Kids Risk Matrix, safeguards designed to help companies mitigate risks to children. The Risk Matrix was developed through CARU’s AI Working Group, a collaborative of global industry professionals representing toy, gaming, network, food, streaming, adtech, and mobile brands popular with children. Risk areas addressed in the Risk Matrix include:
– Misleading and deceptive advertising
– Deceptive influencer and endorser practices
– Privacy invasions and data protection risks
– Bias and discrimination in the use of AI
– Harms to mental health and development
– Manipulation and over-commercialization
– Exposure to harmful content
– Lack of transparency

Netflix has ordered “Kennedy,” an eight-parter about the fabled family starring Michael Fassbender as Joe Kennedy, Jr. The series is based on Fredrik Logevall’s book, JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956.

Hulu has picked up Elgin James’ “Prison Break” pilot to series. The show, focused on a female corrections officer, will be set in the same universe as Fox’s 2005-09 crime drama.

Food Network’s weekend talk show, “The Kitchen,” will be signing off after one more holiday season. The final episode of the series, which launched in January 2014, will premiere Saturday, December 13 at 11a.

Pocket.watch has greenlit “Rabbit Hole,” a creator series set to premiere on Hulu in 2026. Produced direct-to-series with 10 half-hour episodes, “Rabbit Hole” features internet stars Topper Guild, Jesser, Zhong, and ZHC, who collectively reach more than 421 million followers across social platforms.

David Rhode is joining MSNBC as senior national security reporter, as the cable news net prepares to split from Comcast. Rohde has been senior executive editor of national security and law at NBC News.

Darren Botelho has joined FOX Business Network as a Washington-based correspondent. Previously, Botelho served as the weekend evening anchor at ABC affiliate WLNE-TV (ABC6) in Providence, Rhode Island.

“Disney Celebrates America,” a company-wide celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the US, kicks off Veterans Day, November 11, and will culminate on July 4th weekend with a multi-platform broadcast.

Paramount+ UK is partnering with HelloFresh for collaboration titled “One Menu. A Mountain of Entertainment,” featuring HelloFresh UK recipes inspired by Paramount+ UK content. As part of the campaign, customers who order three or more HelloFresh boxes will receive access to three months of Paramount+ UK.

Joe Walsh and Zac Brown will serve as mega mentors on season 28 of the NBC’s “The Voice” as the remaining artists prepare for the Knockouts, beginning Monday, October 27.

Sinclair announced the launch of multiplatform celebration “Amazing America 250: From Neighborhood to Nation.” The initiative will kick off on December 13, with special programming around the 2025 Army-Navy football game in Baltimore, and continue through July 2026 and beyond, marking America’s 250th anniversary.

Many Ways to Show You Care, a multiplatform content initiative from Fred Rogers Productions, launches Friday, November 7. Content will be available on pbskids.org, the PBS KIDS Video app, and the PBS KIDS for Parents YouTube channel. The initiative includes documentary shorts, a Fred Rogers-inspired music video, educator lesson plans, and family activities.

FanDuel Euroleague Basketball are extending their partnership through 2028. Under the renewed deal, FanDuel will continue to broadcast EuroLeague games for free in the US via FanDuel TV’s FAST channel FanDuel TV Extra and its OTT platform FanDuel TV+.
