   IN THE NEWS

What’s in a name? Warner Bros. Discovery offered details on its upcoming separation, including corporate names and senior leadership appointments. “Streaming & Studios,” which will be home to Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO, HBO Max and Warner Bros. Gaming Studios, as well as their film and television libraries, will now be called Warner Bros., while “Global Networks,” including entertainment, sports and news television brands (CNN, TNT Sports in the US, Discovery, and free-to-air channels across Europe) as well as digital products such as the Discovery+ streaming service and Bleacher Report (B/R), will be named Discovery Global. David Zaslav, currently President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, will serve as President and CEO of Warner Bros. The leadership team at Discovery Global will be led by Gunnar Wiedenfels, currently CFO of Warner Bros. For a complete list of new appointments, go here.

“The Gilded Age” has been renewed for season four, ahead of its season three finale August 10 on HBO. Small wonder – premiere night viewing for the period drama has grown for five consecutive weeks, up 20% season-over-season. “We couldn’t be prouder of the undeniable viewership heights ‘The Gilded Age’ has achieved this season,” said Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films. “Transporting us to 1880s New York City, Julian Fellowes and the enormously talented cast and crew have created a ‘cant-miss it’ entertainment experience from week to week.”

Fubo now expects close its sale to Disney in the fourth quarter of this year or the first quarter of 2026. That’s ahead of initial projections of a closing date in the first half of 2026. The deal, which calls for Disney to combine its Hulu+Live TV with Fubo and become majority owner of the combined company, must first pass muster with the Department of Justice and shareholders.

Prime Video reports that “The Summer I Turned Pretty” returned for its third and final season to draw 25 million viewers in its first seven days. That’s up 40% from the first week of season two availability, and triple the seven-day window for season one.

   TECH

Amazon, which had been reducing its presence on Google Shopping, has abruptly pulled out of Google Shopping ads altogether. “Amazon has made a dramatic international exit from product advertising on Google Shopping,” wrote Mike Ryan, Head of Ecommerce Insights at Smarter Ecommerce. “They are a massive source of revenue for Google parent Alphabet Inc., and also serve as a tide that lifts all boats in terms of auction prices. So this has to sting.” It appears Amazon wants full-funnel control before Google’s Performance Max takes control, according to Tinuiti. “Cost per clicks will fall as the whale leaves the pool,” wrote Tinuiti analysts in a research note, adding, “Rivals can benefit from lower CAC, boost LTV and rewrite market share math before Amazon decides whether this was a test, or the new normal.”

Cint announced the launch of Cint Verified Audiences on Snowflake Marketplace. Key benefits of the collaboration include easier activation of customer data and seamless integration of Cint Verified Audiences; Snowflake users gain quick access to demographic data collected directly from consumers; and expanded accessibility to the Cint Verified Audiences product with a platform offering data privacy protection and usage control.
