   IN THE NEWS

CBS’ “60 Minutes” is headed for a big shakeup, sources tell the New York Post. CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss is planning layoffs starting in June that could impact top talent and producers, according to the paper, as part of an effort to make the show more hard-hitting. These cuts would come after CBS News trimmed 6% of its workforce last month.

Reality series “Love on the Spectrum” has been renewed for a fifth season on Netflix. Season four of the show, which follows a group of young people on the autism spectrum as they explore the world romance, is streaming now.

Prime Video canceled music drama “The Runarounds” after one season. “While the TV series may have come to a close, as a band we’re here to stay,” wrote William Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher on Instagram. “This is merely the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.”

The Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers reached a tentative deal on a new contract nearly a month before their current agreement expires. The deal will run for four years, versus the standard three. “The WGA Negotiating Committee unanimously approved a tentative agreement with the AMPTP for the 2026 Minimum Basic Agreement (MBA) for a four-year term,” the committee informerd members. “Crucially, it protects our health plan and puts it on a sustainable path, with increased company contributions across many areas and long-needed increases to health contribution caps. The new contract also builds on gains from 2023 and helps address free work challenges.”

Answer to Our Last Trivia Question
This series, starring veteran actor Paul Ford as a charter boat captain at odds with the upper crusty yacht set, was created because CBS president James Aubrey hated the concept of his network’s other nautical hit, “Gilligan’s Island” (1964-67). “The Baileys of Balboa” (1964-65). Kudos to: Dave Sikula-San Francisco State University/San Francisco; Steve Leblang/LA; Wendy Holmes/Denver; John Kukla-KDFW Fox 4/Dallas; Susan Nessanbaum-Goldberg-M and S Entertainment/LA; Paul Gluck-TUTV/Philadelphia; Tom Moore-Kalt Productions/LA
