   IN THE NEWS

YouTube TV subscribers still have access to Paramount Global’s stable of networks – for now. The companies reached an eleventh hour temporary deal on Thursday night keeping CBS, Nickelodeon, MTV and more on the air. But with just a month to go before March Madness, and April’s Masters tournament – both of which will air on CBS and Paramount+ – time is of the essence. “We appreciate your patience as we continued to negotiate on your behalf. We also value Paramount’s partnership and willingness to work towards an agreement,” said YouTube in a statement.

Max has renewed “The Pitt” for a second season. Since the medical drama’s debut, it has been the streamer’s most-watched title globally. “It’s been a thrill to watch audiences embrace ‘The Pitt’ as an update to procedural storytelling with a cast who authentically embody the heroics of doctors and nurses on shift in a 2025 emergency room,” said Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming. The show has been the focus of a legal dispute between the estate of Michael Crichton, creator of NBC’s 1994-2009 medical drama “ER,” and Warner Brothers, over alleged breach of contract.

The US streaming market is tightening, with more platforms shutting down than launching, according to the latest report from BB Media. Growth has given way to restructuring – in 2024, 36 new services emerged, but 39 became inactive, versus the peak year of 2020, when 68 platforms debuted. In 2025, “further consolidation and bundling strategies will shape the market,” the report concludes.
