Sam Waterston will make his final appearance on NBC’s “Law & Order” on February 22. He joined the show in 1994, its fifth season, and has reprised the role in spinoffs. “The time has come for me to move on and take Jack McCoy with me,” said the actor in a message to fans. “There’s sadness in leaving, but I’m just too curious about what’s next. An actor doesn’t want to let himself get too comfortable.” Joining the show as the new DA is Tony Goldwyn (“Scandal”), who guest starred as a different character on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”
Serbian actor Milos Bikovic has been cut from the season three cast of HBO’s “The White Lotus,” after being denounced by Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for supporting Russia since its invasion. “@HBO, is it all right for you to work with a person who supports genocide & violates international law?” posted the ministry. Forced to bow out, Bikovic responded that a “targeted campaign has been unleashed” against him, calling the move “the triumph of absurdity and the defeat of art.” Bikovic’s role will be recast.
According to DirecTV, Cox Media Group pulled its 12 stations on Saturday after rejecting an offer to extend negotiations for a new carriage agreement. “CMG is playing chicken with the industry, willfully ignoring the economics that its programming does not warrant a double-digit annual rate increase on top of an already exorbitant fee structure,” said the satellite service. In its own release, CMG claimed DirecTV was the one to remove the stations after refusing CMG’s offer of an extension. “Dropping CMG stations and blocking viewers from accessing local news and programming is DirecTV’s latest bullying tactic to try to harm local journalism,” said the company.
Candace Bushnell, whose book, Sex and the City, was the basis for the 1998-2004 HBO series of the same name, won’t get a penny from Netflix’s deal to acquire the series – and she’s not happy about it. “All of these men who are in charge of things, they just keep moving these cards around to make money because every time they move the cards around somebody’s skimming,” she told The Times of London. “The way men do business is a Ponzi scheme.” Bushnell was paid $100,000 by HBO when it acquired rights to her novel.
NYC Media, the official broadcast network for the City of New York, is partnering with international news organization Deutsche Welle to provide New Yorkers with 44 new television programs in both English and Spanish on the NYC World Channel. The new content, a combination of news analysis, features, specials and original information programs from around the world, will include 63 hours of English language programming (8a-5p) and 49 hours of Spanish language programming (5p-midnight), weekly. In the works is a new series, “The NYC Field Guide: How to Thrive in the Five,” featuring tips on how to live in the five boroughs.
Charter lost 61,000 broadband subscribers in 4Q23, versus analysts’ expectations of a small gain. “Internet growth in our existing footprint has been challenging, driven by admittedly more persistent competition from fixed wireless and similar levels of wireline overbuild activity,” said Charter President and CEO Chris Winfrey said during a conference call, issues he called “a temporary challenge.” The company attributed the loss of 248,000 residential video customers during the quarter in part to a carriage dispute with Disney. |

Oxygen’s “Selena & Yolanda: The Secret Between Them” premieres Saturday, February 17 at 8p. The two-part series reveals new information about the friendship between Tejano superstar Selena and the woman who killed her, Yolanda Saldivar.
“Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” starring Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman, landed a straight-to-series order at Apple TV+. Fanning and Kidman will executive produce, alongside David E. Kelley and Dakota Fanning. A24 is the studio.
Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”) will guest star on season two of HBO’s “The Last of Us.” The post-apocalyptic drama is based on the video game of the same name.

Shane Gillis, the comedian hired as a featured player on “Saturday Night Live,” then fired after a 2018 YouTube video surfaced in which he used a racial slur, is returning to host the show on February 24. Musical guest will be 21 Savage.
A two-part documentary explores the comeback effort of former talk show host Wendy Williams. Cameras chronicle Williams’ journey to reclaim her life and legacy in “Where Is Wendy Williams?”, debuting Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25 at 8p on Lifetime. On the Friday night prior, Lifetime will encore biopic, “Wendy Williams: The Movie” and 2021 documentary, “Wendy Williams: What a Mess.”

Diamond Sports Group reached agreements to televise Texas Rangers, Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins games in 2024. That gives the bankrupt unit of Sinclair Broadcast Group 12 MLB teams as it works on a restructuring agreement backed by Amazon. Diamond will pay less than its previous contract rate, enabling it to earn a profit on the broadcast contracts for one more year, while giving the teams time to find new partners for 2025.
DraftKings will deliver Super Bowl LVIII news live from Las Vegas. Beginning today, February 5, programs including “The Lombardi Line,” “Follow the Money,” “A Numbers Game” and more will anchor DraftKings’ coverage as part of DraftKings Network’s Super Week programming lineup.
