NBC is aiming to make TV Everywhere easy for Olympics fans. The net announced it’s giving viewers a 30-minute free pass to watch Winter Games video before they’re asked to verify that they’re subscribers. Users will need to download an app (NBCOlympics.com or NBC’s LiveExtra app) for access to over 1000 hours of live-streamed coverage; a video with Ryan Seacrest offers instructions for using the apps.

 IN THE NEWS

Turner Broadcasting announced a big change for Adult Swim. Basic cable’s number one net among A18-34 will dive deeper into prime time by starting an hour earlier, running from 8p-6a. Starting Monday, March 31, back-to-back reruns of King of the Hill will lead the lineup. Cartoon Network loses the 8p hour, but will gain new original content at CartoonNetwork.com and its other digital platforms. “As Adult Swim continues to succeed with record ratings and connects with its audiences more than ever,” said Stuart Snyder, president and COO of AYAKM, “it is imperative that we find a way to grow this part of the business.”

Negotiations between the Writers Guild and producers began on Monday for a new contract, ahead of the current agreement’s May 1 expiration. Last week, in a letter to members, WGA’s negotiating committee members Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) and Chip Johannessen (Homeland) accused the production companies of proposing cuts in pension and health contributions, “at a time of unprecedented prosperity for the studios.” The WGA is also expected to argue for an increase for writers for cable shows.

Top Chef struck a licensing agreement with Celebrity Cruises for a “Top Chef at Sea” partnership that gives fans custom experiences inspired by the Bravo culinary competition. The finale of season 11, airing tonight at 10p, features “the closest decision in Top Chef history.”
