Showtime is playing offense, scheduling new episodes of Shameless, House of Lies and Episodes opposite the Super Bowl – a sked adjustment announced just nine days before the Sunday, February 2 game. “The strength and performance of our three winter shows has been remarkable,” said EVP of program planning, scheduling and research Kim Lemon. “We’ve looked at the competitive landscape, and we have an opportunity to be one of the few scripted alternatives on Super Bowl Sunday.”
Michelle Obama plans to sit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon guest couch on Thursday, February 20, the week Fallon takes over from Jay Leno as host on the NBC late night talker. The First Lady will be in NYC, where the show has relocated, for a DNC lunch, reports The NY Post.
While the Tonight Show transition seems to be going smoothly this time around, Leno told CBS‘s 60 Minutes that leaving was “not my decision,” acknowledging, however, that Fallon “is really good. So you go with the new guy. Makes perfect sense.” A Matt Lauer interview with both hosts airs on NBC‘s Today this morning.
NBC‘s The Blacklist boosted its January 20 viewership by 5.43 million in Live+3 ratings (8.83 million to 14.26 million), to set a new DVR playback record. Among A18-49, it was a 70 percent jump, from 2.3 to 3.9.

Audience-targeted TV ad company Simulmedia expanded on its agreement with FourthWall Media, an independent source of cable set-top box viewing data, to integrate FourthWall’s full daily feed of anonymous viewing data, saying it will have the ability to match that viewing to household purchase in a privacy-protected way. “The anonymous purchase matching will help enable our next generation of closed loop ad targeting on TV, where we intend to report on actual purchase lift generated by campaigns,” said Simulmedia founder and CEO Dave Morgan.
Agency Peleton Entertainment has acquired Creative Media, founded by Todd Berger in 2009. Berger will remain to lead Peleton’s expansion into packaging content in scripted TV, feature film and branded entertainment.

Fox ordered six eps of comedy Weird Loners, along with two half-hour pilots. Loners, from 20th Century Fox, centers on a group of people who form an unexpected bond in a Queens, NY townhouse; CBS Television Studios‘ Sober Companion focuses on a self-destructive attorney whose life is taken over by a court-ordered handler, and Dead Boss, from Warner Bros. Television and Kapital Entertainment, is a comic mystery based on a British series. Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly announced at the TCA January 13 that the net would be ordering fewer pilots, so the ones that do get made likely have a better chance at advancing to series.
FX greenlit two relationship comedies: Married, about an unhappy-but-in-love couple played by Nat Faxon (The Descendants) and Judy Greer (Archer), and You’re the Worst, chronicling the love story of two self-destructive people, starring Aya Cash (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Chris Geere (The Spa). With orders of ten eps each, series are slated for a July debut. FX Networks is going for laughs, with seven comedy pilots in production for FX or FXX.
ABC picked up four pilots from ABC Studios: procedural Agatha, military drama Warriors, space race drama Astronaut Wives Club and a Richard LaGravenese project. NBC also ordered a pilot from ABC Studios, Fifth Wheel, as well as The Money Pit, about newlyweds struggling with a home renovation, from Amblin Television and Universal Television.
USA ordered courtroom comedy Benched, from ABC Signature and The Mark Gordon Company, starring Eliza Coupe (Happy Endings) and Jay Harrington (Better Off Ted).

NBC comedies The Michael J. Fox Show and Sean Saves the World trading time slots on Thursday scrambled the numbers, but didn’t change the net result: Michael J. Fox’s Nielsen numbers went up a tenth from last week among A18-49, to .7/2, but Sean dropped a tenth, to .7/2.
Fox had better luck swapping Friday’s Raising Hope and new comedy Enlisted, according to early Nielsen numbers. With 8p lead-in Bones up 20 percent to 1.8, Enlisted jumped to a 1.0 A18-49, from .6 the week prior, and Raising Hope was up a tenth, to .8.
