A&E canceled docu-series Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Exposing Hate in America after learning third-party payments were made to some participants to facilitate access, in violation of the network’s policies for a documentary: “We had previously provided assurances to the public and our core partners…that no payment was made to hate group members and we believed that to be the case at the time.” The day before, amid controversy, A&E had changed the name of the doc from Generation KKK.

What you did not know is that when we taped these programs with her a few weeks ago, she was suffering from Stage IV cancer and sadly, on Dec. 5, Cindy Stowell passed away. So from all of us here at Jeopardy!, our sincere condolences to her family and her friends.” Stowell had said she planned to donate her winnings to cancer research.
