CBS All Access is heading to The Twilight Zone. The revival, from CBS Television Studios in association with Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films, will be exec produced by Peele, Kinberg and Marco Ramirez; Win Rosenfeld and Audrey Chon will also serve as executive producers. “Too many times this year it’s felt we were living in a twilight zone, and I can’t think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences,” said Peele.
 
Atlanta writer/producer Stephen Glover struck an excusive overall deal with FX Productions to develop TV series. “We appreciate everything Stephen has done to make Atlanta one of the best comedies on TV, taking an even bigger role with his brother Donald on the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool animated series, and now creating his own projects with the same uncompromising artistry,” said Eric Schrier, president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.
 
Pop ordered comedy pilot The Demons of Dorian Gunn, written by Evan Greenspoon and Brandon Scott Jones and executive produced by Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns of JAX Media, Kara Welker of Generate, and actress Krysten Ritter through her production company Silent Machine. Show follows a disgraced New York socialite who discovers he’s descended from a long line of demon hunters.

Netflix inked a deal with Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy to develop TV projects for the streaming service. Josh Barry has joined Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment as president of television as part of the agreement. “Shawn and 21 Laps are courageous and adept storytellers who lean into risk both narratively and by nurturing great young talent,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP of original content.
 
NEW & RETURNING SERIES
 
HGTV renewed Desert Flippers for season 3. The renovation show’s sophomore run attracted over 11.7 million viewers and delivered a +9% increase among P25-54 versus its first season.
 
New series Unikitty!, based on the character from The LEGO Movie, debuts Monday, January 1 at 6a on Cartoon Network, with 6 episodes rotating throughout the day. Following the launch, the show will air Fridays at 6:30p.
 
Berlin Station had barely finished its sophomore run when Epix renewed the CIA drama for season 3. “This past season was timely, significant, and almost eerily prescient in its mirroring of real-life events this year, and we are looking forward to working with the talented teams at Paramount TV and Anonymous Content on another installment,” said Jocelyn Diaz, EVP of original programming
 
Season 2 of WE tv docu-series Mama June: From Not to Hot premieres Friday, January 12 at 9p. This time around, June competes on the beauty pageant circuit.
 
CNBC’s Billion Dollar Buyer returns for season 3 on Wednesday, January 3 at 10p. Tilman Fertitta will not only be looking at new businesses aiming for a life-changing order, but offering updates on how businesses from past seasons are faring.
 
Among the highlights of PBS’s winter/spring schedule are season 2 of Masterpiece’s Victoria (Sundays, January 14-February 25), with Dame Diana Rigg onboard; and Masterpiece’s Little Women (Sunday, May 13-20). Escape acquired rights to Without a Trace from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, and will launch the drama series with a 12-episode marathon starting New Year’s Day at noon, followed by weeknight airings at 9p and 10p. Without a Trace, which ran on CBS from 2002-2009, is Escape’s first scripted drama series.
 
ID movie Final Vision premieres Sunday, December 10 at 8p. Actor and true crime fan Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters), who plays author Joe McGinniss in the film about murderer Jeffrey MacDonald, talks about the twisted real-life tale in the new Cynsiders.
 
Warner Bros. TV’s Two and a Half Men is joining the lineup on Nick at Nite starting Wednesday, December 6 at 1a, then launch on Viacom sib Spike (soon-to-be-Paramount Network) on Saturday, December 16 at 12p.
 
United for Puerto Rico, an initiative created by Puerto Rico’s First Lady Beatriz Rosello, will air a telethon benefit concert to help with Hurricanes Irma and Maria relief efforts. The event is scheduled to air on Puerto Rico’s WAPA Television, WAPA’s U.S. cable network arm WAPA America, and Dominican-American targeting Television Dominicana, on Sunday, December 10, beginning at 10a.

Reebok and Foot Locker are teaming for 3:AM, a series of content and event activations featuring rapper and Reebok ambassador Cam’ron and artist Trevor “Trouble” Andrew finding inspiration in the early morning hours. First chapter launches at Foot Locker’s NYC33 event space in NYC on December 12.
 
Bravo’s Top Chef and delivery company Postmates are teaming to offer free delivery on food orders through tomorrow, December 8, celebrating tonight’s season 15 premiere of Top Chef at 10p. Customers can score free on-demand delivery from anywhere on Postmates, including orders from the new “Bravo’s Top Chef x Postmates” restaurant collection, featuring restaurants headed by Top Chef alums in LA. Postmates will also roll out its fleet of robotic rovers, branded with “Bravo’s Top Chef x Postmates” logo, for select deliveries across the city.
 
Local ad revenue is projected to hit $151.2 billion in 2018, up 5.2% from this year. A strong economy and the expectation of highly-competitive statewide political races next year “reinforce our outlook that local advertising revenue will show strong growth in 2018, in fact, higher than we’ve seen for five years,” said Mark Fratrik, chief economist and SVP at BIA/Kelsey. “Combine these factors with the continued strength of traditional and online media and the revenue landscape for next year looks robust.” Traditional media will account for 64.7% of the revenue, with online/digital gobbling 35.3%.

GOING GLOBAL
 
UK’s Channel 4 will be boosting its programming budget in 2018, said chief executive Alex Mahon, including late night. “We’re going to do more entertainment and comedy and want to build on that and want to put money into 11pm in the schedule so we can bring new talent in,” said the exec at the Channel 4 Christmas party. Deeper pockets are the result of an improving ad market.
 
21st Century Fox will have to wait a little longer to complete its $15.6 billion deal to take over UK’s Sky. Regulators moved the date to publish their report from December to mid-January. “It is not unusual for us to update our 18 timetables,” a Competition and Markets Authority spokesperson told the Guardian. “In this case, we have received a large body of evidence – including numerous face-to-face hearings and more than 12,000 submissions – so it is vital that we spend the time to reach an informed and considered provisional view.”

BBC Learning and the Premier League announced a partnership at the Children’s Global Media Summit. “Super Movers” will bring stars from the football and TV worlds together for educational videos that will help teachers keep kids moving, as well as encourage families to live active, healthy lifestyles. NBC ratings booster This Is Us has finished its fall run, but the net got a solid performance from the Christmas episode of Will & Grace on Tuesday. The show grew 24% in total viewers and 13% among A18-49 (7.1 million and 1.8) versus its last original, in early November.
 
Among syndicated talkers, Dr. Phil (3.7) held the top spot during November sweeps, while Live with Kelly and Ryan and Ellen DeGeneres shared second place (2.4). Steve Harvey’s Steve (1.4) was up 8% from its September premiere, tying Wendy Williams. Also up from its launch were Daily Mail TV (1.0), up 11%, and Page Six TV (.8), up 14% from its premiere to match a series high.
 
INSP had its highest rated month in network history in November, ranking 37th overall in 24/7 ratings, up +4.5% over October, and second in year-over-year growth, up +40% versus November 2016.

Mark Mulhern will join Omnicom’s DDB Worldwide as CEO of its dedicated McDonald’s agency, We Are Unlimited, effective January 8. Mulhern, who joins from Hearst’s iCrossing, succeeds Brian Nienhaus, moving to an as-yet-unnamed new post at Omnicom.
