Fox will take to the stage for TCA’s January winter tour after all. While Fox, ABC, CBS and NBC had all decided to forgo hosting executive sessions at the event, on Friday Fox changed course. “We were focused on presenting our mid-season programming and we underestimated the interest in this panel,” said the net in a statement. “We are happy to accommodate the TCA members and we have adjusted our schedule to include an executive session this January.” Responded the TCA, “We understand that every network has their own tight schedules to work around, but we are hopeful similar adjustments might still be made on other networks’ ends.”
Do reports that have Megyn Kelly leaving Fox News for CNN have merit? “Many reporters are writing articles about me and my future at Fox,” tweeted Kelly on Friday night. “Don’t believe a thing u hear unless it comes from me, period.” Kelly’s FNC contract expires in 2017.
After Buzzfeed published an article last week saying that the church attended by Fixer Upper hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines opposes same-sex marriage, HGTV responded, “We don’t discriminate against members of the LGBT community in any of our shows. HGTV is proud to have a crystal clear, consistent record of including people from all walks of life in its series.” Two years ago, the lifestyle net dropped a series it was developing with brothers David and Jason Benham after a report surfaced that David had protested at LGBT events.
Disney chairman and CEO Bob Iger is among the business leaders on Donald Trump’s new President’s Strategic and Policy Forum, tasked with providing Trump with input “in a frank, non-bureaucratic, and non-partisan manner.” Also onboard are Blackstone’s Stephen A. Schwarzman, GE’s Jack Welch and GM’s Mary Berra, among others. “This forum brings together CEOs and business leaders who know what it takes to create jobs and drive economic growth,” said the President elect.
CNN apologized to the Trump team after a producer was heard joking on Thursday about the POTUS-to-be’s plane crashing as he was making his way to Indianapolis. “An unfortunate and inappropriate remark was made by one of our producers off camera yesterday,” said the net in a statement. “We have apologized to the Trump transition team, and the producer has been disciplined.”
Alec Baldwin, who once again appeared in NBC’s Saturday Night Live cold open December 3, made no apologies for skewering Trump. “Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can’t get any worse,” tweeted Trump, after the Baldwin sketch – focused on Trump’s Twitter habit – aired. Responded Baldwin, “Release your taxes and I’ll stop. Ha.”
As Trump prepares to lead the free world, will President Obama’s next act include launching his own digital media company? Website Mic reports it’s been discussed, but added this statement from a White House spokesperson: “While the president will remain actively engaged in inspiring young people and he is interested in the changing ways people consume information, he has no plans to get into the media business after he leaves office.”
