USWNT’s Megan Rapinoe on Monday was named Sports Illustrated’s 2019 “Sportsperson of the Year.” Rapinoe’s work as a supporter of equality and a loud voice for social issues as well as helping lead the U.S. women to the World Cup title, were key factors in the decision. Rapinoe is the fourth woman in the award’s 66-year history to win it unaccompanied, joining Serena Williams in 2015, Mary Decker in 1983 and Chris Evert in 1976.
 
PROGRAMMING
 
NBC Sports Group will dedicate more than 60 hours of comprehensive news, digital and tournament coverage to the Presidents Cup, taking place at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia. The network’s approach surrounding the biennial international competition will be led by more than 25 hours of live event coverage, airing in primetime Wednesday-Saturday on GOLF Channel, with weekend encore presentations airing on NBC.
 
CBS Sports said it is averaging 7.103 million viewers season-to-date for its college football coverage, its best college football viewership since 1990. The SEC Championship game between LSU and Georgia on Saturday, won by LSU 37-10, averaged 13.7 million viewers and peaked at just under 15.8 million.
 
The Home Depot College Football Awards announced its presenters for this year’s ceremony, which will include past award winners, former college football standouts and NFL stars. New to the show this year, the Chuck Bednarik, Biletnikoff, Davey O’Brien and Doak Walker Awards will be presented with special features that explore the history of each award and its past winners. The show will air live from the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. ET, on ESPN.
 
The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) and CBS Sports have announced the launch of Price for Glory, an eight-part docu-series documenting the trials and tribulations of the world’s best riders attempting to be selected to ride for their national teams at the 2020 WinStar World Casino & Resort PBR Global Cup USA, presented by Monster Energy. Price for Glory will premiere on CBS Sports Network on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 PM, ET.
 
THE NFL ON CBS’ national 4:25 PM, ET game window on Sunday earned a 17.5/35 average household rating/share in the metered markets, a +17% increase versus last year’s comparable eighth doubleheader coverage (15.0/31; Week 16 – 12/16/18) and the highest-rated game of the day on any network. The national game window was highlighted by the Kansas City-New England, Pittsburgh-Arizona and Tennessee-Oakland games. Through 14 weeks of the NFL season, The NFL on CBS’ season-to-date rating is its highest in three years, up +2%, averaging a 10.9/23 household rating/share in the metered markets (2016; 11.4/23).
 
The Seahawks and Rams delivered a Total Audience Delivery Average of 18.3 Million Viewers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, which led NBC to a Primetime victory for the night. The game delivered a peak of 19.2 million viewers on NBC from 9:30-9:45pm ET (the conclusion of first half).

Minor League Baseball and Nationwide announced a multiyear partnership making the Columbus-based company the “Official Insurance Partner of Minor League Baseball.” Under the terms of the new agreement, Nationwide secured exclusive national rights in the insurance category, becomes the latest commercial partner of MiLB’s industry-leading Hispanic fan engagement platform, Copa de la Diversión (“Copa”), and is a presenting partner of several new fan-centric ownership platforms.
 
Bobcat Company, a compact equipment specialist , has signed a three-year deal with Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz. Wentz will be featured in multi-media marketing, dealership signage and personal appearances.

Bleacher Report is continuing its mission to deliver premium sports betting content for its B/R Betting brand with the debut of a new live interactive game show from the B/R Studio at the Caesars Palace Las Vegas Sports Book. The weekly B/R Betting Game Show will be shot in front of a live audience with content distributed across the B/R app and B/R Betting social handles throughout the week. It will feature a rotation of guest hosts starting with former NFL superstar Chad Ochocinco, who will lead the audience in games and contests immediately following the NFL’s Thursday Night Football broadcast for its debut. 
 
The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame announced that ESPN3 will livestream the 62nd NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by ETT, which will take place tonight  at the New York Hilton Midtown.

DreamHack announced the 2020 world tour schedule, which will include 11 three-day, non-stop festivals in 10 major cities, including its U.S. West coast debut in Anaheim, CA. Additional locations include Leipzig, Germany; Dallas, TX, USA; Valencia and Sevilla, Spain; Montreal, Canada; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Hyderabad, India; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; and DreamHack Summer and Winter in Jönköping, Sweden.
 
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced Monday a new Sports Emmy category, Outstanding Esports Coverage. The award will “recognize the craft behind the delivery of coverage and presentation of competitive, organized video gaming to the viewer during a championship or final event.” The awards committee for the Academy made the unanimous decision to recognize esports journalism in an effort to “expand the Emmy universe,” said Justine Gubar, executive director of Sports Emmy Awards Administration, and herself a four-time Emmy Award winner.
 
Louis Vuitton announced its League of Legends capsule collection in partnership with Riot Games . Designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Women’s Collections, the capsule features references true to the universes of League of Legends and Ghesquière’s personal inspirations, and follows the Prestige skins he previously created for Qiyana (already revealed) and for Senna (to be revealed in January 2020).The collection showcases a Monogram Louis Vuitton x League of Legends canvas, revisited across some of the House’s iconic and New Classics bags including the Neverfull, the Speedy or the Boite Chapeau Souple and a Bumbag among other styles.
