Game Show Network has a new president. John Zaccario, who was previously GSN’s Executive Vice President, Ad Sales, has been appointed to the post, effective immediately. He succeeds Mark Feldman, who left the company to join Scopely upon the sale of the GSN Games business, which was completed this week. Zaccario’s responsibilities include the running of Game Show Network, it’s production arm, Game Show Enterprises, gameshownetwork.com, getTV, Sony Movies, Sony Cine, and the distribution of the Game Show Network and Sony Libraries via FAST Channels. Zaccario joined Game Show Network in 2008 as Executive Vice President of Game Show Network Advertising Sales.
Comcast and Fuse Media announced a multiyear agreement for the return of Fuse and FM – Fuse Music to the Comcast channel lineup. The new pact includes rights for Comcast to make Fuse’s new streaming platform, Fuse+, available on Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Flex as well as its XClass TVs.
Fandom’s State of Fandom event takes place today, Wednesday, December 8 at 1p, and will include data from the group’s recent study, “Top TV & Streaming Insights.” The report notes that after a year of binging any content they could get their hands on for comfort, TV fans are more focused and mindful this year, going deeper than before on a select few favorites. Netflix is teaming with non-profit organization IllumiNative on a program designed to support the work of early and mid-career Indigenous producers. Kicking off in April 2022, the program will support seven individuals who will develop a current project, attend monthly workshops, and benefit from various mentoring and networking opportunities, while receiving a $25,000 stipend.
Turner Classic Movies is honoring Lily Tomlin with a hand and footprint ceremony in the courtyard of TCL Chinese Theatre Imax in Hollywood during the 13th TCM Classic Film Festival on Friday, April 22. In addition, the third Robert Osborne Award, recognizing an individual who has helped keep the cultural heritage of classic film alive for future generations, will be presented to film critic and historian Leonard Maltin.
Endemol Shine North America is partnering with Abby Greensfelder’s Everywoman Studios and Realscreen to expand the annual Propelle Program, which aims to support the careers of up-and-coming women creators, pairing them with leaders in the industry for mentorship and project workshopping. Giada De Laurentiis has signed a new exclusive deal with Food Network. De Laurentiis will continue to produce and front content for both the linear network and discovery+, including all-new series “Simply Giada,” premiering Sunday, January 9 at 11:30a on Food Network. “I’m excited to share all of the new projects I’ve been working on with viewers. Get ready for more adventures, fun… and pasta, of course,” said De Laurentiis.
Univision Communications Inc. has partnered with Selena Gomez to produce her first-ever Spanish-language series “Mi Vecino, El Cartel” (“The Cartel Among Us”) via her company July Moon Productions and alongside Blackfin. The true-crime documentary series explores a murder that rocked a quiet town in Texas and launched a multi-year international investigation. It will be available on Univision’s new global streaming platform set to launch in 2022.
“The Sex Lives of College Girls” is getting a sophomore season. HBO Max has renewed the dramedy created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble that follows the lives and affairs of four college roommates.
Apple TV+ has ordered a third season of “Truth Be Told.” The mystery anthology series stars and is executive produced by Octavia Spencer, who portrays a podcaster willing to risk everything in the pursuit of truth and justice. Maisha Closson (“Claws,” “How to Get Away with Murder”) is coming onboard as executive producer and showrunner.
Drag competition series “Dragula” received a fifth season order from Shudder. The renewal comes ahead of the final two episodes of the show’s fourth season, with the finale airing Tuesday, December 21. In the seven weeks since it premiered, The Boulet Brothers’ “Dragula” Season 4 has been the most watched program on Shudder.
Drama/satire “Hipster Death Rattle,” from Rafael Agustin, Marvin Lemus and Wilmer Valderrama, is in the works at The CW. Based on the novel of the same name by Richie Narvaez, the one-hour series is set in a historically Latino neighborhood that’s falling victim to aggressive gentrification.
HBO Max has greenlit “Bunny & Clyde,” a narrative scripted half-hour comedy from “Search Party” alums Jeffery Self and Cole Escola and talent management, production and distribution group Avalon.
Netflix has renewed “Outer Banks” for a third season. The coming-of-age mystery series is set on the island of the same name off the coast of North Carolina and the Bahamas. The series creators, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, are returning as showrunners and executive producers.
Casting notes: “Parks and Rec” alum Nick Offerman has boarded the cast of HBO’s “The Last Of Us,” replacing Con O’Neill, who had a scheduling conflict… upcoming BET+ drama “Kingdom Business” will be led by Yolanda Adams, as the reigning “Queen of Gospel” Denita Jordan, and Serayah as Rbel.

Things are about to get hideous at HGTV. The network known for showcasing beautiful homes is set to debut “Ugliest House in America” on Monday, January 3 at 10p. Hosted by Retta, a home design enthusiast, comedian and actress, the five-part event series will feature tours of 12 properties nominated by homeowners who believe their design-challenged home is one of the worst in the country.
The hidden realities behind the fable and philosophy of the Playboy empire are exposed in A&E Network’s documentary series, “Secrets of Playboy,” bowing Monday, January 24 at 9p. Four years after Hugh Hefner’s death, insiders, colleagues, executives, Playmates and employees share the story of what life within the Playboy world was like.
“Coach Kings,” an adult animated comedy from Dillon Francis and Brandon Dermer debuts Monday, December 16 on the FallArmy streaming channel. The short-form series, which premiered on FallArmy social media on Monday, follows the adventures of Francis and his childhood best friend Eric Hamilton as they channel surf from the sanctuary of their living room.

“We Stay Looking,” a scripted satirical “true crime” podcast adapted from the HBO series “Insecure” and a follow-up to “Looking for LaToya,” will be available on streaming services on Wednesday, December 8. Produced by Issa Rae’s Raedio, Tenderfoot TV and HBO Max, the show exposes the corruption of the justice system.
Cinedigm inked a deal to release some of its titles on SideStream. The live video streaming service is an interactive social video platform for movie lovers, which allows for commentary and live discussion throughout films. SideStream is expected to launch Cinedigm’s film collection, when the platform debuts in February 2022.
Free movie and TV streaming platform Filmzie expanded its service in the U.S. market launching on the Roku platform. Its TV and film catalogue will now be available to users without having to download an app. Viewers can find any film or series from the Filmzie slate via Roku’s search function and watch it instantly.
Meanwhile, Vevo has launched 11 themed linear streaming channels with 24/7 curated music video programming on The Roku Channel. Over the past eight years, Vevo has been working closely with Roku around the Vevo on-demand app. Now the partnership has extended into linear.
Pluto TV kicks off 12 days of Christmas programming on Monday, December 13 at 8p. In the mix are holiday rom-coms and other movies like “The Twelve Days of Christmas Eve,” “A Christmas Princess,” The 12 Dogs of Christmas,” “Christmas in the Heartland, “The Real St. Nick” and more.
Brain Power Studio’s content is now included in on-demand programming available on VIZIO’s WatchFree+ streaming service. SmartCast users can now access holiday titles that include “Christmas on 5th Avenue,” “A Very Country Christmas,” “Snowbound for Christmas,” “Hometown Holiday,” “Christmas Catch” and others.
