Twitter suspended Kanye West (aka Ye) for posting antisemitic comments. Elon Musk said he had “tried his best” to get West to follow Twitter’s rules but had no choice but to suspend the rapper for posting content inciting violence.

Ye won’t have free rein at Parler, either. The rapper’s deal to buy the right-wing social media platform has been scrapped. “Parlement Technologies would like to confirm that the company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intent or sale of Parler,” said the company in a statement posted shortly after West appeared on Infowars and expressed his admiration for Adolf Hitler.

Twitter alternative Hive was forced to shut down its servers for two days over security issues. Researchers uncovered vulnerabilities that would allow attackers access to data – issues they said they had reported confidentially to the company, but took public when the problems were not resolved.

Apple Music revealed its year-end ranking of the top songs of 2022. Number one was “Stay,” by Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber, followed by Harry Styles’ “As It Was”; Future’s “Wait for U”; Kodak Black’s “Super Gremlin”; Adele’s “Easy on Me”; Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves”; Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)”; Jack Harlow’s “First Class”; Bad Bunny and Chencho Corleone’s “Me Porto Bonito” and GAYLE’s “abcdefu.”

Yahoo has selected Amazon Web Services as a preferred public cloud provider for Yahoo Ad Tech, part of an effort to reduce IT infrastructure costs, transform its advertising business operations, and develop tailored and immersive solutions to help brands connect with their audiences, according to the announcement at the AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas. Yahoo Ad Tech said it will migrate all of its advertising-technology workloads from its on-premises data centers to AWS.

Google and iHeartMedia have agreed to pay $9 million to seven states that sued them for paying radio personalities to endorse the Pixel 4 phone in late 2019 and early 2020 despite never having used the device. The move showed “a blatant disrespect for truth-in-advertising rules,” said Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Samuel Levine.

Consumers spent upwards of $11.3 billion on Cyber Monday, up 5.8% year-over-year for the biggest online shopping day ever. Toy sales were up 684% compared with an average day in October 2022, sporting goods rose 466%, appliances rose 458%, and books rose 439%. Top gaming consoles included PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X. From Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, consumers spent $35.27 billion overall, up 4% YoY.

Nearly 40% of organizations are in the process of adopting a new hybrid approach for their IT infrastructure, according to a poll from Axway, a provider of API management and integration software. Data Axway’s 2022 Open Everything Strategy Survey Report notes 68% of respondents cite fears about API sprawl. “Enterprises are in the thick of digital transformation and accompanying cloud and data migrations have made it possible to free up data so it can be exchanged, reused and remixed to fuel innovation and business growth. But that’s messy,” said Vince Padua, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer at Axway. “It brings complexity and security challenges that must be answered by using truly universal API management—that bridges the gap between API development and consumption and opens everything, lines of business and innovation, while building on and out from heritage infrastructure.”

Video advertising distribution and performance platform GlassView is making a strategic investment in brain health startup Cogwear to advance a new neuromarketing headband. The patent-pending device, designed to look and feel like a comfortable athletic headband, senses emotions and other physiological feedback directly from the brain in real time and is intended to gauge audience affinity for products and brands shown in digital video advertisements.

Marketers prioritizing brand safety are extremely likely to be experiencing the impacts of ID changes in terms of campaign effectiveness, despite brand safety itself not being dependent on IDs, according to new data from Emodo. In particular, 88% of brand direct marketers with in-house agencies who rely on brand safety say they are experiencing ID-related changes in the effectiveness of their campaigns. Other findings include:
· Marketers that rely on upper-funnel KPIs like reach report that their campaigns are affected less by ID loss. Less than a third (32%) of marketers measuring performance by reach say they are experiencing a change in campaign effectiveness due to ID loss.
· Engagement and Attention KPIs may be protected from ID loss. Over 60% of agency marketers who rely on either engagement or attention, or both, say they are not experiencing any ID-related changes in the effectiveness of campaigns.
· Nearly 80% of brand marketers who rely on Brand Lift say they are experiencing ID-related changes in the effectiveness of their campaigns.
“Many marketers are starting to grasp the significance of ID loss, but much of the focus tends to be on targeting,” said Megan Saunders, SVP of Global Marketing & Growth at Emodo. “The impact on measurement is potentially even more severe, but that element is not as widely understood. Advertisers need to rethink the way they evaluate the success of their campaigns.”

Talker “The Jennifer Hudson Show” will stream exclusively on The Roku Channel. In addition to all previously aired episodes, new episodes will be available on the platform the day after their linear debut.

Fuse Media has secured carriage for its new FAST channel, Latino Vibes, through a new agreement with Roku. The channel is now available through The Roku Channel on Roku TVs and devices.

Warner Bros. Discovery streamer discovery+ is now available to DirecTV and DirecTV Stream customers. Customers have access to the full library of 70,000+ episodes of original series and library content from the WBD family of networks.

Pluto TV has debuted in Canada, streaming more than 20,000 hours of free programming, introducing a lineup of over 110 thematic and single-series channels curated from a library containing titles from Paramount and global media partners.

Streaming audio service TuneIn has launched “Univision Top TV Shows” station, featuring a curated slate of Spanish-language podcasts from Uforia, TelevisaUnivision’s audio network. The “Univision Top TV Shows” station will include streaming distribution and on-demand playback of Uforia Podcasts, including audio versions of Univision entertainment and news programming including “Univision Reporta,” “Despierta América,” “El Gordo y La Flaca,” and “Noticiero Univision.”

Fubo Sports Network, the live, free-to-consumer TV network from streaming platform FuboTV, launched on Amazon Freevee. The increase in distribution makes the channel available on more than 155 million devices across multiple streaming platforms.

Eighty-eight percent of Canadian internet users are now reachable by connected TV, with 60% of these consumers using ad-supported CTV apps and channels, according to a study of over 560 Canadian consumers conducted by LG Ad Solutions. The survey also found that 58% of consumers prefer ad-supported models of CTV, with18% of consumers having removed a subscription CTV service from the household in the last 12 months while 15% have added a free ad-supported CTV service during the same period. “There have been two recent ‘big shifts’ in Canadian television viewing habits – the first was the rise of subscription-driven connected TV, fueled by rapid adoption related to the initial onset of the pandemic,” said Tony Marlow, Global CMO at LG Ad Solutions. “And right now we are in the midst of the second big shift, the adoption of free ad-supported connected TV content.”
