SPONSORSHIP & PROMOTION

Sony Corp. is pulling its sponsorship of the World Cup amid growing criticism of FIFA’s transparency process, according to multiple reports. Sony’s contract with the governing body was slated to expire at the end of the year, but the decision marks the second top-tier sponsor to make the decision in recent months. The deal had been worth $279 million over eight years, according to The Wall Street Journal, which writes that the company is also cutting costs which helped the decision, but “was also concerned about the possible negative implications of further associations with FIFA.”

Sting and Lenny Kravitz are confirmed to be heading to Dallas as performers for the College Football Playoff festivities, performing on Jan. 10 and 11, respectively, as part of a ticketed concert series called AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
