PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Horror drama Haunted is in development at Fox. Written, exec produced and directed by William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) and co-exec produced by Chris Morgan, series is based on the Bob Cramner book The Demon of Brownsville Road.

Set in the Miami art scene, dark comedy Hype is in development at TNT. Series is from Irvine Welsh, author of the novel Trainspotting, which was adapted into the 1996 movie. Welsh will write and exec-produce; also exec-producing are Trevor Engelson of Underground and Doug Banker of Five All In The Fifth Entertainment.

Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, the duo behind the Harold & Kumar films, inked a first-look TV deal with Lionsgate. The pair will develop and produce scripted comedy programming; first project is Fair and Balanced.

ITV ordered a trio of new series: a reboot of BAFTA-winning comedy Cold Feet, a hit for the network from 1997-2003; six-ep series The Good Karma Hospital, from Tiger Aspect (Peaky Blinders); and Him, a three-part domestic abuse drama from Mainstreet Pictures. For Cold Feet, original leads Robert Bathurst, James Nesbitt, Hermione Norris, Fay Ripley and John Thomson will reunite for the series. ITV Studios’ Big Talk is producing with Cold Feet creator/writer Mike Bullen exec producing with Kenton Allen; production begins in January.

COMING UP

The cast of TLC’s Sister Wives will sit down with Today co-host Tamron Hall in a two-hour Sister Wives Tell All special on Sunday, November 22.

The Donner Party, who more than 100 years ago were trapped in the Sierra Nevadas due to back-to-back unexpected snowstorms, are the subject of new two-hour special Dead of Winter: The Donner Party, airing Friday, November 27 on Weather Channel.

Reelz will air the U.S. premiere of documentary I Killed John Lennon on Wednesday, December 2, at 10p. The special features interviews with convicted killer Mark David Chapman a decade after he was sentenced.

On November 22, the 52nd anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, American Heroes Channel is dedicating an entire day of programming to honor JFK beginning at noon. 

CBS’ The Talk makes its annual holiday trip to New York City from Monday, December 7-Friday, December 11. Shot on location at the CBS Broadcast Center, the week will feature Downton Abbey stars Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern, recording artist Josh Groban and rock legend Patty Smyth.

Another day, another American Music Awards announcement. Revolt owner Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs has joined as a presenter for the event, airing on ABC Sunday, November 22 at 8p. Alanis Morissette is now onboard to perform.

Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman premieres on Velocity tonight at 9p. Feature film doc chronicling the movie star’s 35-year car racing career features appearances by Mario Andretti, Patrick Dempsey, Jay Leno and Robert Redford.

NEW SERIES

ID’s latest series about very bad behavior, Bad Blood, premieres with back-to-back episodes Wednesday, December 2 at 10p. Hud:Sun Media is producer.

On Wednesday, November 25, PBS Kids will premiere animated series Nature Cat. Filled with pop culture references, the show stars an ordinary housecat, Fred (voiced by SNL’s Taran Killam), who transforms into alter-ego Nature Cat, nature explorer extraordinaire.

Pop is throwing its hat into the ring, becoming the exclusive U.S. television home of Impact Wrestling. The net premieres its new series with a live two-hour special on Tuesday, January 5, at 9p featuring pro wrestling heavy-hitters including Jeff and Matt Hardy, EC3, Kurt Angle and Bobby Lashley.

WE tv will premiere its latest dating series Ex Isle, hosted by Carmen Electra, on Friday, January 8 at 10p.

Oxygen Media is extending its “Preachers” franchise with new series Preachers of Atlanta, debuting Wednesday, February 3, at 10p. The show centers on five pastors with drastically different approaches to their ministry.

RETURNING SHOWS

Bet she saw this coming. TLC is bringing back series Long Island Medium on Sunday, January 3, at 9p.The upcoming season kicks off with a special episode featuring celebrity readings with Jim Parsons, Susan Lucci, Jamie Lynn Sigler and other stars from the big and small screen.

TV Land has changed the premiere date for Darren Star series Younger and comedy Teachers from Chicago improv group the Katydids to Wednesday, January 13, at 10p and 11p, respectively. Beginning Wednesday, January 20, Teachers slides into its regular 10:30p slot. The shows had been scheduled to debut Tuesday, January 12.

Comedy Central unveiled its midseason slate, which includes new seasons of a host of shows – Adam Devine’s House Party, Broad City, Workaholics, Tosh.0 and This is Not Happening – and new shows Idiotsitter and Not Safe With Nikki Glaser. Workaholics returns for season 6 on January 14 at 10 p, followed at 10:30p by Idiotsitter. Broad City returns for season 3 on February 17 at 10p.

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS

Singer/songwriter Michael Buble is bringing the holiday spirit to NBC for the fifth consecutive year with Michael Buble’s Christmas in Hollywood, airing Thursday, December 10 at 8p. Buble’s guest performers this time around include Celine Dion, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Tori Kelly.

November 27 is “Pajama Day” at Up. The net continues its “Everything You Love About Christmas” programming promo with the premiere of original special The Holderness Family Christmas Jammy Jam at 8p, featuring the family who went viral in their footies.

CBS’ primetime series are getting a festive makeover with holiday-themed storylines in episodes of The Big Bang Theory, Life In Pieces, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans and Scorpion airing Tuesday, Nov. 24-December 17.

CASTING

Harry Hamlin got a recurring role in Epix‘s 10-ep original comedy Graves, opposite Nick Nolte and Sela Ward. From Lionsgate TV, the political sendup is written by Joshua Michael Stern… Also at Epix, April Grace joined the cast of spy thrilled Berlin Station, which centers around a CIA agent in Berlin.

Lacey Chabert (Mean Girls), Leslie David Baker (The Office) Kevin Farley (Eight Crazy Nights) and Jon Sewell (Super Zeroes) have been cast in recurring roles in CMT’s Still the King. Series is in production in Nashville and will premiere next year.

GLOBAL GOINGS-ON

Hello, Adele. Broadcasters from 13 countries snapped up rights to BBC Worldwide hourlong special Adele-Live in London, which premieres tonight in the U.K. Among purchasers: France2, Australia’s Nine Network, New Zealand’s TV3, Ireland’s RTE, Finland’s YLE, Spain’s Canal+ and Canada’s CTV/VRAK.

BET’s Being Mary Jane season 3 is attracting 2 million viewers per week, gaining more than 50 percent in Live + 3, according to Nielsen ratings. 

Wednesday’s Arrow on the CW matched its season high in A18-49 (1.1/4), up 22 percent from last week, and also matched its season high in M18-49 (1.3/5), up 18 percent week to week.

Wednesday A18-49 Analysis: FOX delivered the most A18-49 viewers Wednesday with 2.9/10, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. For the 8p hour, ABC’s The Middle topped with 2.1/7 for the first half and The Goldbergs with 2.2/7 at 8:30, followed by CBS’ Survivor with 2.1/7 and Fox’s Rosewood with 1.5/2. Fox jumped to the lead at 9p with 4.4/14 for Empire, followed by Modern Family’s 2.8/9 from 9-9:30 and black-ish’s 1.9/6, with CBS’ Criminal Minds with 1.5/5 in third place. NBC was back in first at 10 with 1.4/5 for Chicago PD; CBS was second with 1.2/4 for Code Black, trailed by ABC’s Nashville with 1.0/4.
