3 questions for Young & Rubicam Group’s Madeline Park, Chief of Talent and Operations, about the company’s new 12-week career reboot program, PowerOn, designed to help parents and caregivers re-enter the workforce. 
Cynopsis: What are the skills people who have been absent from the workforce most need to brush up on?
Madelin Park: Every candidate is going to be unique in what they’ve done since they left the industry. The PowerOn program offers a curriculum that helps participants brush up and build their skills in a variety of areas – ranging from business writing and storytelling, to time management, social marketing and updated software knowledge as well as emerging technology. 

Cynopsis: What are the advantages of hiring from this group?
Park: Their past career successes in our industry, combined with their time as caregivers, brings a wealth of knowledge and insights that are enormously beneficial to clients. Having taken a step away, they come back to offer fresh perspectives, ideas and approaches.

Cynopsis: What do you find is the biggest challenge in filling open job positions?
Park: The biggest challenge is breaking down unconscious bias. When recruiters see a gap in your resume, particularly when that gap is so lengthy, they may not always consider the possibilities. We want to break down these misconceptions, and help these talented professionals jump back into the industry.

Halle Stafford was promoted to President of Television for The Jim Henson Company. Stafford will add primetime development and production to her current responsibilities overseeing the company’s work in kids’ entertainment.
GroupM’s Lindsay Pattison was named Chief Transformation Officer at parent company WPP. Pattison, who had been appointed Chief Transformation Officer at GroupM earlier this year, will retain her GroupM duties as she covers the entire holding company.

Chris Long, programming head of AT&T Audience Network for almost two decades, is exiting the company. Long started at Audience when it was owned by DirecTV and remained at the helm following AT&T’s acquisition of DirecTV. “For the past 18 years I’ve felt an extraordinary degree of good fortune and pride in building the Audience Network into what is has become today—a creative, quality haven for talent on both sides of the camera,” said Long. “And I’ve been blessed to have worked alongside a team that is second to none. I wish them all the very best moving forward—because I’ll be watching.” AT&T’s acquisition of Time Warner is pending.
Univision News appointed John B. Perez to the post of SVP, production and technical operations. Perez comes to Univision News from Univision Network, where he most recently, he was VP of production operations for the network’s Entertainment, News, and Sports divisions.
ABC Studios International tapped former NBCUniversal International Studios exec Guy Sheppard as head of business affairs.

The Video Advertising Bureau promoted Danielle DeLauro to EVP of the VAB. She previously was SVP of strategic sales insights.
Production and branded content house Will Packer Media, a partnership between producer Will Packer and Discovery Communications, added three new executives to its team. Sheila Ducksworth joins as head of scripted television, Jaime Primak Sullivan as head of development and production-digital, and Kelly Smith as head of development and production-unscripted. Ducksworth previously was CEO of Ducksworth Productions, Primak Sullivan was creator, executive producer and star of Bravo reality series Jersey Belle and exec-produced upcoming Gabrielle Union thriller Breaking In. Smith joins from Randy Jackson’s 1963 Entertainment, where he served as VP, development.

Terence Carter, Executive Vice President, Drama Programming, Development and Event Series at FOX, is moving to sister studio 20th TV to succeed Michael Torn as Executive Vice President Development, Drama and Comedy. Meanwhile, Charlie Andrews is returning to FOX, after a stint at Netflix, to take over as Executive Vice President, Drama Programming, Development and Event Series.
Loren Ruch was promoted to Senior Vice President of Programming, Partnerships and Special Projects for Scripps Networks Interactive. Ruch joined the HGTV programming staff in 2008 from Scripps Productions.
Catherine Balsam-Schwaber was named General Manager of Craftsy, the online destination for crafting fans acquired by NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group last May. She was previously Chief Content Officer at Mattel.
Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. upped Elisa Torres as Executive Vice President, Aire Radio Networks and National Radio Sales, and appointed Michelle Marino as Senior Vice President, Aire Radio Networks and National Radio Sales. Marino was previously Vice President Sales for Univision Network Radio.
Jodi Mackie was appointed Director of Sales and Acquisitions at D360. She was previously at  Breakthrough Entertainment.
ZAG announced key moves to its team. Former Legendary Entertainment Chief Finance Officer, Marlin Prager, joins as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer. David Ribardo, previously Senior Manager at PWC LLP, Los Angeles, was named Chief Accounting Officer. Cindy Elfenbein, who last served as Executive Director of Retail Development at SANRIO, was appointed Vice President, Retail Business Development for ZAG brands.

Cannabis news, entertainment and lifestyle OTT channel 420TV, set to launch in January 2018, named Douglas A. Lee as General Manager. Lee also negotiated the 420TV deal on behalf of OWNZONES Media Network and has been the architect of the channel’s programming.

AMC Networks International appointed Alina Florea and Sam Rowden to new roles. Florea is now Director of Acquisitions and Content Partnerships, while Rowden is Director of Programming, CBS Channels.

Discovery Communications expanded Susanna Dinnage’s role to the newly created position of Global President, Animal Planet. She currently serves as President UK/Ireland and Chief Content Officer for Discovery Networks International.

Fusion Media Group announced that Ben Reininga is joining as Head of Video for Gizmondo Media’s collection of sites.
