A perfect storm of World Series Game 7, extra innings and the end of a century-old curse drummed up historic numbers for FOX, with the game scoring a massive 21.8/37 household rating/share with 40.045 million viewers tuning in on average. That marks the most-watched baseball game of any kind since Game 7 of the 1991 World Series and ranks as the most-watched baseball telecast in FOX Sports’ history. Compared to World Series Game 7 in 2014 the contest notched a 70% gain on average audience (40.0 million vs. 23.5 million) and a +58% increase in household rating (vs. 13.7/22).Between FOX, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports GO, World Series Game 7 delivered a combined average of 40.9 million viewers.
On social media, Twitter saw more than 18 million Tweets sent about the 2016 World Series, including 10.5 million during Game 7 alone. Both numbers marked Twitter records for a World Series as well as for a MLB game. On Facebook, the entire series generated 33 million people with over 150 million Facebook interactions related to the 2016 World Series.

Meanwhile, WGN America announced that it will serve up the Cubs victory parade to viewers with commercial-free coverage today. WGN America will be airing the wide-ranging coverage from Tribune Broadcasting’s local Chicago station WGN-TV.
Elsewhere, ESPN locked in men’s college basketball analysts Dan Dakich, Fran Fraschilla and Jay Williams to multi-year deals to continue their roles with the company. Dakich agreed to a three-year extension, with Fraschilla inking a new four-year deal and both running 2020. Williams signed a new three-year deal and will now have a recurring role on Mike & Mike.
Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp. and Impact Ventures, parent company of TNA Impact Wrestling, unveiled a deal that makes Anthem a credit facility to TNA to fund operations. The agreement includes the appointment of Anthem Executive Vice President Ed Nordholm to the Impact Ventures Board of Managers. Dixie Carter will continue as Chair of the Company, as well as her position on the Board of Managers while Billy Corgan will no longer be part of the company.“We have had a successful, long-term partnership with Fight Network as our Canadian broadcaster, and more recently as our global digital partner,” said Dixie Carter. “Anthem’s team has extensive media experience, and I am excited to have that available to us as we plan for the future.”
ESPN unveiled its talent lineup for the upcoming women’s college basketball season. They announced that Maria Taylor will make her debut as the ESPN studio host for Big Monday throughout the regular season with analysts Andy Landers and Rebecca Lobo, and will also host SEC Network studio on Thursdays. Big Monday games will see the commentator teams of Lawson with Beth Mowins or Dave O’Brien with Doris Burke. Meanwhile, Deb Antonelli will work with Courtney Lyle on Thursday SEC Network games, and will also call games on ESPN2. Pam Ward will serve as a play by play commentator for games on ESPN2 during the regular season. O’Brien returns to call the Women’s Final Four with Burke and Holly Rowe.
ESPN showcases the Rawlings Gold Glove Awards Show presented by Fanatics on Nov. 8 at 8p. The one-hour show will be led by host Karl Ravech with analysts Alex Cora and Doug Glanville and will include interviews with the 2016 award winners.
On the local front, MSG Networks announced the debut of The MSG Hockey Show, presented by Geico, on Nov. 18 at 10:30p. Will Reeve hosts with Anson Carter and Arda Ocal, weigh in on the week’s hot topics in the National Hockey League.
Meanwhile, Alliance MMA announced that its regional promotion – Hoosier Fight Club – signed a broadcast television agreement with Comcast SportsNet Chicago. The first aired event under the CSN agreement will be HFC 31 tomorrow and feature three title fights.

NASCAR detailed plans for Champion’s Week in Las Vegas, spanning Nov. 29-Dec. 2 with festivities that conclude with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards at Wynn Las Vegas that will run on NBCSN on Dec. 2. Following the World Series, the Topps Company announced today the signing of Chicago Cubs player Kris Bryant to the “largest and most significant” exclusive card deal in the company’s baseball history. The multi-year deal will guarantee that his autograph cards will only be found in future Topps and Bowman products starting with 2017 Topps Baseball Series 1.In addition to signing autographs, Bryant will also be featured as the new cover athlete for Topps BUNT as well as for 2017 Topps Baseball Series 1.
The New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center are partnering up with Wawa, Inc. via a multi-year agreement that makes Wawa a proud partner and the Official Breakfast Sandwich of the club and venue. As part of the partnership, Wawa and the Devils will team up on promotions throughout the year providing fans attending events at Prudential Center with a unique experience. Wawa will also have a presence at Prudential Center through signage and other activations during events throughout the year.
Intel is going all in on VR, acquiring VR startup VOKE to expand its reach in immersive sports with the company becoming part of the Intel Sports Group. “Together, we can innovate and scale our new immersive sports business faster to bring fans the most personalized, fully immersive VR experience ever imagined and change the way networks, sports leagues and teams engage with their audiences,” said James Carwana, General Manager of Intel’s new Sports Group.
Speaking of VR, the NFL and Google announced an expansion of their relationship that will allow fans around the world to see the NFL in virtual reality. NFL Films will produce a 9-part series that gives viewers a 360-degree perspective of life in and around the league, detailing how each prepares for game day in a completely new and immersive way. The first episode of the virtual reality series will be available to watch via the NFL channel on YouTube on Thanksgiving Day. Later this year, episodes will also become available via the NFL VR app designed for Daydream. The deal marks the league’s first foray into producing content in virtual reality.
The Colonial Athletic Association, in partnership with Stretch Internet, is launching the CAA.TV channel for the Roku platform. The channel is currently available for download via the Roku Channel Store and features live and on-demand events from around the conference. “The addition of a Roku channel is an exciting step in the growth and expansion of the conference’s digital network, CAA.TV,” said CAA Commissioner Joe D’Antonio. “Our institutions produce high-quality telecasts of hundreds of home events each year and the CAA.TV channel on the Roku platform will extend the reach of our programming to millions of viewers across the country. We appreciate the work of our partners at Stretch Internet in making this happen.”
The New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center unveiled a partnership with iHeartMedia New York to launch The One Jersey Sports and Entertainment Network, a digital platform featuring all live regular season Devils hockey games and original Devils and New Jersey entertainment programming. Fans will be able to access access The One Jersey Network through the Devils app and via iHeartRadio and, starting with the Nov. 6 Devils/Hurricanes game at 6p as part of a 23-game slate.
GLORY is partnering with UFC.tv for PPV distribution of GLORY: COLLISION from Konig-Pilsener Arena in Germany on Dec. 10. This will mark the first time that UFC.tv will be the exclusive Pay-Per-View provider of a non-UFC fight card. The lineup will also be distributed as a live Pay-Per-View event on North American cable and satellite providers including iN DEMAND, DirecTV, and DISH Network and globally via the UFC.tv digital service.
The World eSports Association launched an independent arbitration court to take on legal issues and disputed in the industry. The court will operate independently and is open to everyone involved in the eSports industry, from players and teams to organizers and publishers with all issues presented to the court to be decided by an impartial panel of three arbitrators. "The creation of an independent arbitration process is an important step to achieve one of WESA’s goals to professionalize eSports," said Ken Hershman, Executive Chairman and Commissioner of WESA. "The impartial nature of the arbitration process ensures a variety of issues from contract disputes to prize money distribution and many others can be handled expeditiously in a fair, equitable and cost effective manner."
ESL announced that the grand finals of the fourth season of the ESL Pro League last weekend saw upticks with the finals notching an 18% rise in the total number of sessions over last season, and a 13% uptick in the number of hours watched. The event clocked above 16 million views, with the peak concurrent viewership reaching over 400,000 viewers. Overall, close to 5.5 million hours of content was consumed by the online audience. The finals also recorded over 74 million impressions on Facebook and Twitter, with the engagement passing the 12 million mark.
Super Evil Megacorp has is bringing Replay Mode to Vainglory, announcing that with the game’s next update, a slate of recording and broadcasting features will be introduced. Replay Mode will allow players to pan, zoom and slow-down the action from clips recorded in-game stating Nov. 8.
