Trevor Noah, Comedy Central’s Emmy-winning “Daily Show” host, will host “The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.” It’s Noah’s first time emcee’ing the event, which will be broadcast Sunday, January 31 at 8p on CBS and CBS All Access. Beyonce dominated the nominations, announced yesterday, but several television personalities are also in contention. Jerry Seinfeld, Tiffany Haddish, Meryl Streep, Rachel Maddow, Spike Jonze and all-time “Jeopardy!” record holder Ken Jennings are in the running for statuettes in different categories.
Sarah Paulson thriller “Run” is now Hulu’s most watched feature title ever during its opening weekend. The film, which debuted November 20, also ranks as the most talked about Hulu Original Film to date on Twitter.
Dave Chappelle’s sketch series “Chappelle’s Show” is on Netflix no longer. Chappelle asked the streamer to remove the show, the comedian told fans in a social media video, claiming he never got paid by after he left the ViacomCBS-owned show. ViacomCBS “didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract,” he said. “But is that right? I didn’t think so either… I like working for Netflix because when all those bad things happened to me, that company didn’t even exist. And when I found out they were streaming ‘Chappelle’s Show,’ I was furious… So you know what I did? I called them and I told them that this makes me feel bad. And you want to know what they did? They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better.”
Netflix ran away with 18 nominations for the 2020 International Documentary Assn., which announced noms yesterday for its virtual ceremony on January 21. PBS landed five noms, and HBO is up for four awards.
Pete Davidson and Maude Apatow, who recently starred together in “The King of Staten Island,” are reuniting for a virtual table read of the 1946 holiday classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” to benefit The Ed Asner Family Center. Davidson will portray George Bailey, portrayed by James Stewart in the film. Aparow will portray Violet Bick. Other readers include Mia Farrow, Ellie Kemper, Carol Kane and Ed Begley Jr.
Also gathering ‘round the table is the cast of The CW’s “90210,” who are reuniting for a digital special. Cast members including Annalynne McCord, Michael Steger, Shenae Grimes, Matt Lanter, Tristan “Mack” Wilds and Trevor Donovan will appear in “ET Presents… 9021OMG! The Cast Tells All,” available to stream on The CW Seed beginning Wednesday November 25.

PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT
NFL legend Peyton Manning will run quarterback for NBC’s reboot of gameshow “College Bowl.” The Colts star will host the series, which was handed a 10-episode order by the network. Producing are Steve Mosko’s Village Roadshow and Universal Television Alternative Studio, in association with Tough Lamb Media. David Friedman, exec producer of “The Titan Games,” will be showrunner. Series originally aired on CBS from 1959-63 and NBC from 1963-70.
Showtime is close to acquiring Nathan Englander’s Israeli-Palestine conflict novel “Dinner At The Center Of The Earth” to adapt as a series that “Homeland” team Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa will pen and exec-produce, according to Deadline. Deal comes via Sony Pictures Television Studios.
Amber Riley (“Glee”) will star in and exec produce another music-driven comedy series. “Dream” is in development at NBC from writer/producer Lisa Muse Bryant (“Black-ish”), producer Neil Meron and Universal TV. Series follows a former teen mom who decides to chase her dream of becoming a singer when her son graduates from college.
A new Canadian historical comedy series is in the works from Thomas Middleditch (“Silicon Valley,” “B Positive”) and Humphrey Ker (“Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet”). From producers Brightlight Pictures and Pier 21 Films for Fort Puleyne and in development at Bell Media, series is about an optimistic young officer who heads to Upper Canada to oversee a chronically misfit militia.
Netflix is developing a film based on Dwayne Alexander Smith’s novel “Forty Acres,” to be written and produced by “Luke Cage” creator Cheo Hodari Coker. The story centers on a civil rights attorney forced to fight for survival when he’s invited to join an elite black organization with a massive secret. Coker will produce with James Lassiter, Jay-Z and Aaron Kaplan.
“Izzy’s Koala World,” the animal series created by The Dodo, will be back for season 2 on Netflix. Produced in association with Nomadica Films, series spotlights 11-year-old Magnetic Island resident Izzy Bee, who, with her family, takes care of displaced koalas.
ShortsTV inked a one-year exclusive distribution deal with Mastercard for “FIVE,” a collection of documentary short films from women directors about the perseverance and passion of women entrepreneurs. The five films from five countries—“Harfa,” “Justice of the Pies,” “Onganic Foods,” “Sarah’s Bag” and “Talento Incluir”—will air on ShortsTV’s linear channels in March 2021.
YouTube Originals greenlit “30 Days With,” a new franchise of multi-episode documentaries that give viewers a behind-the-scenes, 30-day snapshot of public figures, athletes, artists and creators. Each series will focus on a primary subject and give a personal spotlight over the course of four episodes.
“Fire Season,” which follows a group of strangers who are forced together in a real-time escape from a deadly wildfire, is in the works at TNT. Series is written and co-exec-produced by Joy Blake (“First Kill”), and exec-produced by Nacelle Co.’s Brian Volk-Weiss, Matt Ochacher, and Michael Pelmont.
ViacomCBS International Studios and Spanish production house Morena Films are in a co-development deal for dramedy series “The Kellys.” Hector Lozano is creator and showrunner for the project, which follows a group of cleaners in a Spanish coastal hotel.
Xavier Dolan has set his first television series, “The Night Logan Woke Up,” with Studiocanal, Canal+ and Quebecor Content. The five-episode drama will air as a Quebecor Content and Canal+ Creation Originale in 2022.
NEW & RETURNING SERIES
Snap Original “Queen of Stylez,” starring celeb hairstylist Tokyo Stylez, dropped this week on Snapchat. Docuseries features clients including Cardi B, Paris Hilton, Karrueche Tran and Nikita Dragun.
“Trafficked With Mariana Van Zeller” debuts on Nat Geo on Wednesdaay, December 2. The docuseries takes viewers inside the most dangerous black markets on the planet.
HBO Max lifted the curtain on the trailer for Max Original “Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults,” premiering Thursday, December 3. All four episodes of the docuseries, which examines an UFO cult through the eyes of former members, will launch simultaneously… Also at the Max, comedy thriller “Search Party” returns for its fourth season in January 2021. The streamer released the first images for the new season and announced guests, including a cameo by RL Stine.
The final season of “Shameless” will premiere on Sunday, December 6 at 9p. The net dropped a trailer and poster art for season 11, which will wrap the story of the Gallagher family. Their ne’er-do-well patriarch is played by William H. Macy.
Chef Carla Hall joins Chef Anne Burrell to mentor a new batch of disastrous cooks in the new season of “Worst Cooks in America.” Debuting on Food Network Sunday, January 3 at 9p.
Lifestyle expert Clinton Kelly helps successful entrepreneurs find their dream homes in new HGTV series “Self-Made Mansions.” Six-ep series premieres Friday, January 8, at 8p.
Fox released the first teaser for season 2 of spinoff drama “9-1-1: Lone Star.” In keeping with the franchise’s vibe, a major disaster is hitting, and the first responders are springing to action. Series debuts Monday, January 18, following the new season of “9-1-1.”
COMING UP
Taylor Swift’s “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions” debuts today (November 25) on Disney+. The intimate concert film features Swift, Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, and an appearance by Justin Vernon (Bon Iver).
TNT is home to the television premiere of action film “Aquaman.” The Jason Momoa-Amber Heard starrer debuts Thursday, November 26 at 8p.
Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest and “Good Morning America’s” Ginger Zee are onboard for “The 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Celebration,” airing Thursday, November 26 at 8:30a. Viewers can stream the reimagined virtual celebration on 6abc.com, 6abc Philadelphia News App and 6abc connected TV apps on Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Hulu and Roku.
Crown Media Family Networks and the United Service Organizations formed a multiplatform, strategic partnership that will see the integration of the USO in the original Hallmark Movies & Mysteries holiday movie “USS Christmas,” which premieres Saturday, November 28.

Lifetime unveiled airdates for two new authorized biopics and three new documentaries. Three-hour original movie “Salt-N-Pepa,” about the groundbreaking hip-hop duo, premieres Saturday, January 23 at 8p, followed by the documentary “Salt-N-Pepa Interview Special. “Wendy Williams: The Movie,” the first biopic about the outspoken television host, premieres Saturday, January 30 at 8p, accompanied by doc “The Wendy Williams Story…What a Mess!” Documentary “Whitney & Bobbi,” about the heartbreaking parallel lives of Whitney Houston and daughter Bobbi Kristina, premieres Saturday, February 6 at 10p.

HBO Max will launch its “Holiday Wonderland” spotlight page Tuesday, December 1. The spotlight page will offer more than 200 hours of curated holiday movies and episodes, ranging from Max Originals like “12 Dates of Christmas” and “My Gift: A Christmas Special” to classic and original holiday movies like “A Christmas Carol,” “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas” and “A Flintstone Family Christmas.”
Indie digital media company DMR launched three of its linear channels on The Roku Channel. RetroCrush features classic Japanese anime, Midnight Pulp streams “all things strange,” and Cocoro offers premium content.

Three new winter-themed episodes of “Molly of Denali” are coming to PBS Kids December 7-9. In the new eps, Molly, her friends and family in Alaska figure out how to help a family member, mend an ugly hand-me-down Christmas sweater and celebrate a birthday during the winter solstice.
Zodiak Kids secured a commission from France Televisions and Rai to produce a new animated series of the heritage property “Mumfie.” Directed by the French director Daniel Dubuis, preschool comedy is based on Britt Allcroft’s Magic Adventures of Mumfie.

RATINGS
In syndication, viewers flocked to “Jeopardy!,” sending the long-running game show to the top of the syndication chart—for the first time since early June—in the first week after the death of its beloved host Alex Trebek on November 8. The session ending November 15 also featured other syndication favorites surging to their best ratings of the season. In the talk show race “Live with Kelly and Ryan” tied “Dr Phil” at No. 1. “Ellen DeGeneres” held on to third place while sophomore stars “Kelly Clarkson” and “Tamron Hall” moved up to equal their season highs. “Hall,” which has already been renewed for year three, scored the biggest percentage increase of any talk show in the household ratings and surged 33 percent in the key W25-54 demo. “Wendy Williams” also joined the party with an up week. Among newsmagazines, “Entertainment Tonight” and “Inside Edition” led.
For the week of November 16, Univision delivered double-digit week-over-week primetime audience growth among Total Viewers 2+ (10 percent to 1.3 million), A18-49 (13 percent to 509,000) and A18-34 (18% to 207,000). For the entire week, Univision finished as the fourth most-watched broadcast network during primetime.
