The premiere of “Tulsa King,” starring Sylvester Stallone, and “NFL on CBS” drove record single-day subscription signups on Paramount+. “This is a significant milestone for Paramount+ and a clear indicator that our strategy of offering a total household product inclusive of marquee sports, breaking news and a broad range of premium originals is working,” said Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer of Paramount Streaming. “The combination of expanding the Taylor Sheridan universe with highly anticipated new originals like ‘Tulsa King’ and the urgency that comes with watching live events is propelling our growth and further establishing us as a leader in streaming.”
Candace Cameron Bure responded to backlash from an interview in The Wall Street Journal, in which she said she left Hallmark Channel to join Great American Family network in part because GAC will “keep traditional marriage at the core.” “It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone,” she posted on Instagram. “It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn’t be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.”
Jay Leno is expected to make a full recovery after suffering burns from a gasoline fire while working on his car. After Leno underwent a grafting surgery, Dr. Peter Grossman of the Grossman Burn Center in LA reported that Leno’s condition is good. “He’s Jay Leno,” Grossman said. “He is walking around and he’s cracking jokes.”
“The Drew Barrymore Show” is the fastest-growing show in daytime TV. Currently in its third season, viewership for the show rose 70%, averaging 1.2 million viewers. The highest-rated episodes of this season included George Clooney, Martha Stewart and Serena Williams. |

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
“House of the Dragon” executive producer and co-showrunner Miguel Sapochnik signed with CAA. Sapochnik also directed “Game of Thrones” episodes, and served as executive producer on six episodes of the series.
NEW & RETURNING SERIES
“Sort Of” will very much return on December 1. The HBO Max Original comedy will air two episodes weekly through December 22.
“Accident, Suicide or Murder” will reveal unexpected truths behind suspicious deaths. The series’ fourth season will air with an hour-long premiere on November 26 at 8p on Oxygen True Crime, beginning with a mystery in Milford, NJ.
COMING UP
Emmy-nominated “Kids Baking Championship” will return to Food Network and discovery+. Hosted by Valerie Bertinelli and Duff Goldman, the competition features. twelve kid entrepreneurs who showcase their baking talents and business knowledge. The new season kicks off on December 26.
TECH TALK
Eighty-one percent of advertisers are satisfied with addressable TV advertising, up from 72% who said so this same time last year, according to research from Go Addressable and Advertiser Perceptions that was shared at yesterday’s Go Addressable 2022 conference in NYC. Key insights include:
· 96% of those using the medium today said they are buying from either AVOD, programmers, OEMs or MVPDs.
· 77% of marketers who have used the medium said they are satisfied with the measurement solutions available for addressable TV.
· 41% of marketers not currently using the medium plan to incorporate it in 2023, up from 25% who said so this same time last year.
· 37% of those currently using addressable advertising said they plan to increase their ad spend in it in 2023.
The findings come as a survey of the Go Addressable group reveal that the industry initiative has helped to enable a monthly average of 53 billion linear advertising minutes. “The members of Go Addressable acknowledge the importance of collaboration in order to push television advertising forward, ” Kevin Arrix, SVP at DISH Media, tells Cynopsis. “We are also holding ourselves accountable to deliver on that progress. Today’s event puts our mission on display and sets the course for what the group will focus on in 2023.”
STREAMING
Xumo has launched an 18-channel holiday hub. The service will feature hundreds of hours of themed entertainment, including holiday classics, Hallmark movies, iHeart Christmas and more.
HOLIDAYS
The Smithsonian Channel will host a weekend-long Thanksgiving Stunt. Hosted by Jay Ellis of “Insecure,” the program will feature franchises such as “Mighty Cruise Ships,” “How Did They Build That?” and “Aerial America.” The stunt will begin next Thursday, November 24 at 9a with a marathon of “Inside the Factory.”
AMC Networks aims to curate the “Best Christmas Ever” with their annual holiday event. Launching with “Christmas with the Campbells” on AMC+, AMC’s streaming services will present a catalog of holiday fan favorites throughout the month of December.
Elle King, Jimmie Allen and Rachel Smith will host CBS holiday special “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash,” with the country singers and “Entertainment Tonight” counting down to 2023. The special will feature live musical performances from Brooks & Dunn, Zac Brown Band and more.

Apple revealed pricing and launch details for its MLS Season Pass. At a reported cost of $2.5 billion, acquiring the rights to the league was one of the biggest sports streaming deals, and will offer subscribers regular-season live matches, playoffs and cup competition.
The Boston Bruins have claimed their longest win streak at home in club history with a 9-0 record. NESN household viewership is up 34% in impressions versus the 2021-22 season, and the A25-54 audience has grown in impressions by 12% versus last year.
The US Trustee overseeing bankruptcy charges of the Alliance for American Football sued Tom Dundon for $184 million. Alleging Dundon, the minor league’s former owner, sank the startup in the face of financial alternatives, the trustee’s complaint argued that Dundon dealt on his reputation and the league’s trust to control and liquidate the league. In the same bankruptcy court, Dundon sued AAF founder Charlie Ebersol for $70 million – the amount Dundon invested into the league in 2019.
Odell Beckham Jr. sued Nike over his endorsement deal. Beckham is seeking more than $20 million in damages for the corporation allegedly withholding $2 million dollars that was owed to him earlier this year.
The International Olympic Committee announced its esports festival in Singapore. From June 22-25 next year, the IOC and Singapore National Olympic Council will stage the inaugural hybrid event of virtual sports and gaming that will span a week. “Singapore has a track record of successfully hosting some of the biggest events in the virtual sports and esports calendar,” said VP of the IOC and SNOC board member Ng Ser Miang. “We are honored to be collaborating with the IOC to bring this shared vision to life.”

Lucía Méndez and Jorge Perugorría will star in Hulu series “La Máquina.” Helmed by Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, the limited series will follow an aging boxer attempting his last title. Karina Gidi, Raul Briones and Luis Gnecco will also recur in the project.

“Survivor” will return to Colombia after 15 years. The adventure reality show has been off the air in the South America country since 2008, and will end its hiatus with “Survivor, La Isla de los Famosos” through Banijay Rights – commemorating the 25 year anniversary for the franchise. |
