ABC reports that its coverage drew 823,000 viewers, according to Nielsen fast national numbers, to rank as the most-watched MLS Cup match on the Disney Media Networks since 2014. 2019 MLS Cup caps a record-setting MLS Playoffs for the Disney Media Networks. Prior to Seattle-Toronto, the five ESPN/ESPN2 matches combined for a 36% rise this season.
Meanwhile, Univision drew an additional 447,000 viewers to the MLS Cup Final, ranking as the top-rated MLS Cup Final on Univision Networks since 2016 and up 100% over the 2018 MLS Cup Final on the channel.
NBC’s Sunday Night Football saw the Minnesota Vikings’ victory over the Cowboys average a Total Audience Delivery of 23.5 million viewers across NBC TV, NBC Sports Digital, and NFL Digital platforms and rank as the top Week 10 game in NBC SNF history. The game also drew a 15% increase over last year’s Week 10 game, according to fast national data released by Nielsen, and digital data from Adobe Analytics. The matchup also marked Sunday Night Football’s 100th broadcast with at least 20 million viewers since the decade began.
FOX Sports, meanwhile, saw America’s Game of the Week – a Packers win over the Panthers – to a 14.6/30 metered market rating for a 7% spike over the last year’s competitive window. Meanwhile, a FOX NFL Sunday, Salute to Veterans telecast that ran live from West Point, earned a 1.3/4 overnight score, up 18%.
For the fifth consecutive year, NBC Sports is set to offer multi-network coverage of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Championship this Sunday, at 3p on NBC, NBCSN, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. Serving as a complement to NBC’s primary broadcast, Sunday’s NASCAR Hot Pass telecast on NBCSN will offer simultaneous live coverage hyper-focused on each of the Championship Four drivers: Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr.. Leigh Diffey will call NASCAR Hot Pass coverage on NBCSN alongside analyst Dale Jarrett.
ESPN locked in a multi-year contract extension with SEC Nation host Laura Rutledge, who now becomes a permanent contributor to Get Up on ESPN. Rutledge joined the Get Up desk as a weekly correspondent last fall, and will remain the host of SEC Nation on SEC Network. She will also continue her presence across a number of network studio shows and programming, including appearances anchoring SportsCenter, hosting College Football Live and reporting from the College Football Playoff.
CBS Sports added Texas A&M/Georgia to its SEC on CBS lineup, taking place Nov. 23 at 3:30p. Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and reporter Jamie Erdahl will call the contest from Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga.
WWE announced its new monthly series , “Stone Cold” Steve Austin: The Broken Skull Sessions, will steam on WWE Network immediately following Survivor Series on Nov. 24 at approximately 11p. Hosted and produced by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, the series will feature “no-holds barred, one-on-one conversations with the biggest names in WWE history, including Legends, Superstars and celebrity guests.” For the premiere episode, Austin welcomes The Undertaker for a long-form interview.
Longtime Hockey Night in Canada analyst Don Cherry was dismissed by Rogers Sportsnet after the former Boston Bruins and Colorado Rockies coach after making controversial comments about immigrants on the air on Saturday night. “Following further discussions with Don Cherry after Saturday night’s broadcast, it has been decided it is the right time for him to immediately step down,” Sportsnet president Bart Yabsley said via a statement released on Twitter. “During the broadcast, he made divisive remarks that do not represent our values or what we stand for.”

Formula 1 tied up a deal with Expo 2020 Dubai, the next World Expo, as an Official Sponsor of the series. The deal will span 14 months, running from the conclusion of the 2019 season and throughout next year’s race calendar. Expo 2020, takes place from Oct. 2020 to April 2021, with 192 participating countries. The event’s F1 sponsorship will include activations to raise awareness of Expo 2020 and will include trackside and digital advertising at seven Grands Prix in 2020. To kick-start the association, the first trackside advertising will be seen at the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2019.
SBTech launched its on-property sportsbook at Rising Star Casino in Indiana under Churchill Downs’ BetAmerica brand to mark the sixth US state SBTech has entered into in less than 18 months. “We are very excited to be entering the great state of Indiana” said Melissa Riahei, President of SBTech US. “Our on-property sportsbook product has been extremely successful to date, and we look forward to replicating that success for Rising Star Casino, in partnership with Churchill Downs.”

In addition, GitHyp reports that viewership for the final set a new record for peak concurrent viewership on Twitch, hitting 1,743,204. Meanwhile, Riot Games is reportedly planning a League of Legends World Cup, according to ESPN.
WWE and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced that WrestleMania 35 generated $165.4 million in economic impact for the New York/New Jersey region last April, according to a study conducted by the Enigma Research Corporation. Over the past 13 years, WrestleMania has now generated more than $1.3 billion in cumulative economic impact for the cities that have hosted the event. WrestleMania 35 also generated approximately $27.1 million in federal, state and local taxes.
