History was made for IndyCar, as the Board of Directors of Hulman & Company entered into an agreement to be acquired by Penske Corporation, selling principal operating assets, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the NTT IndyCar Series and IMS Productions to the corporation, ending a legacy with the Hulman family and the racing series, when the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was purchased by Tony Hulman and Hulman & Company in 1945, although the family will have an opportunity from Penske to remain involved with both the series and the speedway, according to ESPN.
“We recently approached Roger Penske and Penske Corporation about this opportunity and began working to put an agreement in place,” said Tony George, Chairman of Hulman & Company. “The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been the centerpiece and the cathedral of motorsports since 1909 and the Hulman-George family has proudly served as the steward of this great institution for more than 70 years. Now, we are honored to pass the torch to Roger Penske and Penske Corporation, as they become just the fourth owner of the iconic Speedway. There is no one more capable and qualified than Roger and his organization to lead the sport of IndyCar racing and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway into the future.”

NBC’s Sunday Night Football telecast saw the Patriots/Ravens game average a Total Audience Delivery of 22.6 Million Viewers, ranking as the third-best Week 9 delivery in 14 seasons for NBC’s SNF package. Through Week 9, NBC’s Sunday Night Football is averaging a Total Audience Delivery of 20.5 Million Viewers, up 4% over last year and ranking as the best since 2015.
Around the dial, FOX Sports saw its Week 9 NFL Singleheader deliver an 11.4/26 in Nielsen metered markets, up 14% over last year’s comparable window. Season-to-date, the NFL on FOX is averaging a 12.1/26, up 3% over last year.
ONE Championship went big for its 100th live event, taking place on Oct. 13 from the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, and reeling in a record-breaking 85 million viewers worldwide across all platforms according to official data tabulated by Nielsen, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. “I am thrilled to announce that ONE: CENTURY broke all viewership records and stands today as the most-watched martial arts event in history with over 85 million viewers worldwide,” said Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship. “China alone brought in over 10 million viewers on live terrestrial TV and digital platforms. Asia is the world’s largest media market in terms of eyeballs with over 3 billion viewers in the same 3-hour time zone. ONE Championship is broadcast on free-to-air TV and digital platforms every week in every major country in Asia.”
ONE Championship also unveiled its initial event lineup for the first half of 2020, with a minimum of 50 events overall for the coming calendar year. In addition, the company noted plans to host its first events in the United States, India, and Korea in 2020. The initial slate opens on Jan. 10 in Bangkok, and includes stops in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and China.
ESPN celebrates college football’s 150th birthday on Wednesday, and marks the occasion throughout the week including showcasing the sport’s 150 greatest games, which were revealed Monday morning. Content will include The American Game examining “Games of the Century”; The Greatest debating the sport’s biggest upsets; and a special ESPN CFB150 Showcase Game between MAC East Division leaders Miami (Ohio) and Ohio on the night of the anniversary, among other elements. A panel of 150 influential names from college football voted the 1971 Nebraska at Oklahoma contest as the greatest game in the sport’s history.
CBS Sports unveiled its SEC on CBS football doubleheader for Nov. 16, highlighted by Georgia/Auburn as the “SEC Game of the Week” at 3:30p. Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and reporter Jamie Erdahl call the contest from Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn. The day’s action kicks off at noon with the first game of the doubleheader between Florida/Missouri.
Bob Costas joins Dan Rather on The Big Interview on AXS TV and “shares his thoughts on the state of sports journalism, discusses his criticism of the NFL, opens up about his deep love for baseball, and more in a wide-ranging and unflinching conversation” on Nov. 13 at 8p.  
The third season of CBS Sports’ Four Sides of the Story features “Army-Navy” on Saturday at 2p, ahead of its coverage of Alabama/LSU at 3:30p. The episode will expand upon four of the greatest games ever played in this historic rivalry, “highlighting the tradition, pageantry and special meaning of a game that is unlike anything else in the world of sports” with looks at the games in 1944, 1963, 2001, and 2015.
Following the Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, WWE and the Saudi General Entertainment Authority announced plans to expand their live event partnership through 2027 to include a second annual large-scale event.  WWE and GEA also continue to work towards the completion of a media agreement in the MENA region.

Grammy Award winning producer, DJ, and artist Diplo will be working with ESPN through the remainder of the NFL season, where he will choose tracks that “reflect the intensity and the storylines of select Monday Night Football matchups.” The resulting promotional spots are part of ESPN’s ongoing “Ready for Football” campaign. The initial collaboration was released last night durning MNF.
The NFL is reportedly opening the doors to energy drink sponsorships, with SBJ writing that the league is starting a one-year trial that will allow energy drink brands to advertise on its owned-and-operated media as well as during broadcast windows on partner networks and team-owned media, although ownership of the category itself will remain closed. The report states that the NFL must preapprove any energy drink brands that are advertising on its properties and that campaigns cannot suggest the beverage improves athletic performance.
BRP entered a multi-year partnership between its Can-Am Off-Road brand and PBR, celebrating the collaboration at the 2019 PBR World Finals from Nov. 6-10, in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena. Can-Am will offer fan giveaways, interactive displays, free boot shining stations, an upgraded Can-Am Corral seating section and more, while the the 2019 PBR World Champion will receive a 2020 Can-Am Defender side-by-side vehicle. Can-Am’s PBR partnership also features the bright yellow Can-Am Cage on the playing field.

The National Basketball Association cemented DraftKings as its newest partner, inking a a multiyear partnership that designated DraftKings an Authorized Sports Betting Operator of the league. Beginning with the current 2019-20 NBA season, DraftKings will have access to official NBA betting data and league marks across its mobile platform and in its sportsbooks throughout the United States. During the partnership, the NBA and DraftKings will work together on best-in-class practices to protect the integrity of NBA games.
Thirty Five Ventures expanded its sports business vertical, The Boardroom, in a move that includes a new website, newsletter and merchandise for the sports fans. The Boardroom, distributed by ESPN+, has finished filming of Season 2 that will run in early 2020.

Professional streamer Jack “CouRage” Dunlop is going all in on YouTube, and will now stream exclusively on the platform via his YouTube channel. He will kick off his first ever YouTube live stream today. The former esports commentator and gaming content creator boasts over 37 million stream views and over 271M video views. “YouTube uniquely offers CouRage the ability to focus on both live streaming and VOD in a way that no other platform can and we think his YouTube community will be excited he’s now combining both of these content formats in one place,“ said Ryan Wyatt, Head of Gaming, YouTube.  “We are continuing to invest in our live business in gaming in many ways and bringing Jack over is just another way of bolstering our presence in this space.”
Esports Arena has eyes for Nashville and Kansas City, announcing new venues that will open in those cities. The announcement will bring its total locations to five, joining flagship las Vegas, as well as Oakland and Orange County, in addition to hubs in Walmart locations in Roseville, Colorado Springs, Spokane Valley, Fort Worth, and Tulsa.
Gen.G secured investment from NYC-based Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator, according to TechCrunch. The funding from ERA, according to the report, will allow Gen.G to grow its foothold on the East Coast and gives the esports org “a strategic partnership with ERA, which invests in super early-stage tech startups.”

Less than a year before the Tokyo Olympics, NBC Sports Group is losing Jim Bell, who is departing his role as President of NBC Olympics Production & Programming. Bell has overseen Olympic production since the ’12 London Games, but had been working on the Olympics since the ’92 Barcelona Games. A replacement has not yet been named.
The Story Mob named Maik Matischak as Head of European Sports and Partnerships where he will oversee the company’s expansion into sports and partnerships in Europe and develop bespoke esports strategies for traditional sports and brand entities. Additionally, he will be responsible for building up The Story Mob’s European headquarters in the German capital. Matischak joins from the NBA where he led the Communications department for Europe and the Middle East as an Associate Vice President.
