PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
The Irwin family – Terri, Bindi and Robert – are collaborating with Animal Planet to develop and produce projects. “Steve Irwin was a champion for all wildlife, and he and Terri’s excitement and enthusiasm brought viewers from around the world in touch with nature,” said Patrice Andrews, General Manager, Animal Planet. “Their passion for animals, love for their family, and leadership in conservation left a strong legacy that continues today.”
ABC is moving forward with White Dave, a comedy from David E. Talbert (First Sunday, Almost Christmas), LeBron James and Maverick Carter of SpringHill Entertainment. Written by Talbert and based on his real-life experiences, it centers on a young African-American teenager, who’s grown up in an all-white suburb and suddenly moves to an all-black neighborhood.
Zac Brown has joined forces with Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens’ Propgate on a deal with Brown’s Southern Reel production company to create TV, film and digital that speaks to Brown’s vision of life in the South. Already in development is a reality series focused on Southern Ground, Brown’s lifestyle brand headquarters.
FOX gave a put pilot commitment to an untitled comedy from 20th Century Fox TV, starring Lil Rel Howrey. It marks the first project under Jerrod Carmichael‘s overall deal with the studio.
Deadline reports that a drama series featuring Alfonso Cuaron and Casey Affleck is being pitched to pay cable and streaming outlets and is garnering interest from a few networks. Details are under wraps, but word is it’s a horror genre series that tracks the origins of a cult.
Freeform greenlit a second season of Alone Together ahead of its series premiere. The show, which bows January 10 at 8:30p, stars comedians Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo.

The commercials, highlighted by the return of PGA Tour Champions Ambassador Alfonso Ribeiro, will be featured through the second annual Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, slated to begin this week in the Dominion Energy Charity classic in Richmond, VA.

A&E Networks partnered with China Central Television and China International Television Corporation to co-produce The Silk Road – Reborn, chronicling the reincarnation of the world’s oldest network of trade.

VH1’s Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party second season premiere garnered 1.8 million viewers. The show did a 0.97 Live+SD in P18-49, up 17% from the prior four-week time period average.
Tuesday night’s live wedding premiere of Gucci Mane and Keyshia Ka’oir: The Mane Event on BET is the #1 cable series premiere of the 2017/2018 season (excluding sports and news). It drew 1.5 million Total Viewers P2+, with 951,000 Viewers A18-49.
TBS’ presentation of the 2017 National League Championship Series presented by Camping World Game 3, the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. the Chicago Cubs, averaged 6 million viewers and ranked as cable’s top program of the night in primetime, based on metered markets. Viewership was up 40% over last year’s LCS Game 3 coverage on the network.
Empire was FOX’s most-watched show of the week, totaling 9.7 million viewers in multi-platform average audience to date, up 64% vs. Live+SD. The Gifted nearly doubled its total audience from Live+SD in its series premiere, becoming the network’s most watched Monday launch in nearly two years. The Orville posted a +126% lift in Total Viewers, while Lucifer was up +5% from its Season 2 finale.
