VIDEOS IN SHORT
When it comes to short-form video, narrowing the focus is key. “We went to Colorado and interviewed a dozen people about how kids are benefitting from medical marijuana. Our plan was to distribute the doc as several short pieces,” recalls Mike Vainisi, head of editorial at ATTN and a juror at the upcoming Cynopsis Short Form Video Festival. “When we started to edit the footage, we realized that the only way it would work was to identify one narrow aspect of the story for each piece. For short-form video – particularly short-form video distributed on social – the audience expects you to get to the point fast, and they’ll keep scrolling if the narrative starts to meander.”
