10/31/19: A controversial game six of the World Series lifted numbers for FOX

Game 6 turned the tides, not only for the Nationals, but for FOX, which saw the game rank as the most-watched telecast for the 2019 World Series, averaging 16,425,000 on FOX with a 9.6 Nielsen household score. Across all platforms, that game topped 17 million, ranking as the most-streamed game of the 2019 MLB season. On the local front, the telecast drew scores of 41.2/62 in Houston and a 23.4/43 in DC.  In out-of-home viewers, the evening drew an average of 3,863,510 viewers, according to Tunity Analytics, peaking at 10:52 with 5,111,145 OOH viewers with FOX adding over 1.7 million OOH viewers within 12 minutes following the controversial play.
 
PROGRAMMING

FOX Sports also announced a bigger offering for the Professional Bowlers Association, unveiling the 2020 Go Bowling! PBA Tour television schedule, which includes more shows on the FOX broadcast network, the first show featuring women bowlers as well as more live telecasts. Year two of the PBA-FOX Sports agreement features six telecasts on FOX, with 25 shows on FS1 and a total of 23 live broadcasts. Overall, the 2020 TV schedule includes more than 60 hours of coverage. Kicking off the 2020 PBA on FOX season will be a bonus event – PBA Clash – on Sunday on FOX. The 90-minute telecast will feature top PBA stars in a unique, $50,000 winner-take-all competition,
 
BTN serves up coverage of the 2019 Big Ten fall championships and tournaments, including live broadcasts and streams of the Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournaments, the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament and the Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships. The Big Ten Cross Country Championships kick off BTN’s coverage on Sunday, with the men’s event running live on FloSports and BTN+ at 10:45a, followed by the women’s event at 11:45a and on television at 7p.  BTN will also televise the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament semifinals and championship at 4p on Nov. 8.
 
NBC Sports’ presentation of the 2019-20 FIS Snowboarding World Cup season continues Saturday from Modena, Italy, as part of more than 30 hours of exclusive coverage set to air this season across NBCSN, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, and digital platforms. NBC Sports’ 2019-20 FIS Snowboarding World Cup schedule is highlighted by exclusive live coverage of the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix from Copper Mountain, CO. (Dec. 12); the Visa Big Air from Atlanta, GA (Dec. 20 – 21); and the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix from Mammoth Mountain, CA (Jan. 31 – Feb. 1). In addition, NBC Sports presents live snowboarding coverage from Secret Garden, China, on Friday, Dec. 20, and Thursday, Feb. 27. The venue will host snowboarding and freestyle skiing events at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
 
The Mountain West announced its partnership with FloSports to bring live and on-demand content and coverage of four Conference Championships in 2019-20 exclusively on FloTrack.org and FloSwimming.com. The action begins tomorrow in Utah with the four MW Championship events that will air live on the FloSports network. “The Mountain West is pleased to provide outstanding coverage of these four Conference Championship events through our partnership with FloSports,” MW Deputy Commissioner Bret Gilliland said. “We’re constantly looking for opportunities to publicize the wonderful accomplishments of Mountain West student-athletes. Our cross country, track and field and swimming and diving student-athletes and teams will receive great exposure during these four events.”
 
Olympic Channel debuts Take the Podium on its digital platform on Nov. 6, with each episode highlighting an Olympic Medal Reallocation ceremony and profiles the path to redemption for those athletes who were originally denied their special moment on the podium. “I can only imagine the disappointment of athletes who have had their special moment taken away due to cheating,” said Kirsty Coventry, a two-time Olympic Champion and chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission. “Medal reallocation ceremonies are very important for fair sport, for clean sport, for the athletes, and being able to reward athletes who have embodied these values is very important.”
