“The gloom and doom about AVOD is overplayed,” wrote Krishan Bhatia’s, NBCU’s President and Chief Business Officer, in a post responding to a Wall Street Journal article that called the streaming business “rife with challenges.” “We’re facing a fundamental transformation head on — and rethinking our entire approach,” wrote Bhatia. “Digital platforms changed the dynamic, and the technology innovations of the last decade have given us permission to ditch old strategies and approaches. Those of us doing business in today’s modern, digital marketplace, are embracing modern, digital tools.”

Mission Broadcasting, which operates 25 network affiliates, has gone dark on DirecTV and U-verse pay TV platforms. “By law, Mission can refuse any compromise we offer and has the right to suspend any station from our customers’ local channel lineup – which we had wanted to avoid,” said DirecTV in a statement. “We continue to work toward an agreement to deliver the entertainment our customers want at the best possible value.” Nextstar Media Group manages the Mission affiliates.

Hispanics are more likely to be online shoppers than non-Hispanics, according to Adsmovil study: “Embrace the Collective”: The Hispanic Digital Purchase Journey. Other findings include:
· Hispanics are more likely to use retailer sites versus search engines than non-Hispanics.
· Millennial Hispanics are more likely to use social media for product information (versus Gen X & Boomers).
· Younger generations of Hispanics (Gens Z & X) prefer brands that have Spanish content online.
· Hispanics engage in collective behaviors around search and purchase and are more likely to be assisting others with purchases than non-Hispanics.
· Hispanics across acculturation and age cohorts, along with non-Hispanics, rely on mobile for search throughout the day and evening. Hispanics frequently then share search findings with peers.
“Hispanic consumers have been a fast-rising majority for many decades, and it’s imperative that brands understand this is not a homogeneous group,” said Lisa Torres, President, Cultural Quotient, Publicis Media. “This research explores the rich layers of Hispanic consumers across ages and acculturation levels and uncovers the unique ways they’re engaging with advertising and sharing information and recommendations with their communities.”

“You gotta let us do our job,” Whoopi Goldberg chastised a few audience members on ABC’s “The View” yesterday. The daytimer’s co-hosts were talking to Republican Senator Ted Cruz when protesters cried for the group to cover climate change. This may not be the last of it. “This kicks off #OccupyParkAve, in collaboration with @nychange, @sunrisemvmtnyc and other allies in NYC—with protests taking place along Park Avenue all week,” tweeted Extinction Rebellion.
